Our SLA DJ/Pros and 4 Titan48's

#1 Post by ewetho »

Well just some thoughts and even some questions arose last night. The event was a great success in the end but we had a few unexpected challenges.

First we started with the beasts V-Plated ad Wall Loaded and it was week in the room but outside, across the hall in the offices, down the hall in the head (bathroom), way down in the GYM (for those who came to the listening party) it SLAMMED!!!! We actually turned it back around and fired it into the room at a 45 from the corner. Not nearly as strong outside the room but a WHOLE WHOLE lot louder inside. Corner loading did we just excite the cinder block and radiate the outside world and not us inside???? :wall:

Second inside the room which is about W30-35XL120-150XH15' the SLAs were absolutely lethal! We were getting 120?+ dB all night 7ft off the ground from 15 ft away and we had to run the tops at -24 dB on the crowns for balance???? :chainsaw: Just demo'ed them in a large room (theater 50X60Xmuch taller ceiling) and the tops had to be run all the way up to keep up with the Titans. :chainsaw:

In the end Shaken Baby Syndrome was achieved with the utmost in clarity. :D :hyper:

Room modes, specifically boundary cancellations, were the culprit. In a room that small splitting the subs can sometimes work better than clustering them.
