Source for premium film/foil caps

#1 Post by Bamadawg »

I purchased several of their film/foil caps, both solid and their film/foil in oil can caps for a tube-amp project that I never got around to doing. I am gonna use the 22uf oil cans for the Omni 15's I am building. Im also gonna order the other values I do not have from them.

Film/foil have lower ESR/noise/distortion than metallized foil and electrolytics. The large cap ranges they carry are very affordable. I opted for their Fed-Ex shipping which was very reasonable from HK to US, and faster/safer than air/surface post from what I understand. They accept Pay-Pal and also Western Union payments.

Very good quality, but massive overkill in the pro-sound genre, where generic poly caps are quite up to the job. For someone building a cost-no-object David loaded with high end drivers like SEAS or Raven they may prove worthwhile.

I've started buying computer capacitors from Wai Fong (www.pcbulb.com) in Hong Kong. They are one of the few places where I can get Rubycon premium motherboard and power supply capacitors cheaper than $1 each. Shipping for 250 pieces is about $20. Dunno about audio caps, though.
