Versatility. I am really glad we built 2 slims and 2 27"ers. This really allows us to have a small footprint when needed and a lot more bottom end when needed.
Re: 4 t30s w/3012LF
Hell yes! This is the route I would go if I even build more t39's if the 3010lf's never arrive. This was actually my plan on current t39's as I had a pair of 16 inchers and decided they were too big, so I was going to build the next four at 14", but not until I had three 4x8 sheets already cut did I realize the I had asked for 14.5" INTERNAL when I meant to say 13.5Jasen Chandler wrote:Versatility. Re: 4 t30s w/3012LF
Yeah for me it is great to have a versatile rig. I am going to build a couple of T60s for when things need to get loaded.
Re: 4 t30s w/3012LF
meh, skip it and just build 2 T30s per your planned t60 number? they'll go flat down to 30, belligerent.Jasen Chandler wrote:Yeah for me it is great to have a versatile rig. I am going to build a couple of T60s for when things need to get loaded.
2x 3012lf loaded t30s will be just about even with the 27" t60 at 30 hz.

Re: 4 t30s w/3012LF
we are using a 5 ply fir 13/16" that we got @ Home Depot for $27/4x8 sheet......
According to the plans and what i have seen around on the board,Home Depot doesn't sell any wood good for building BF cabs...

you can build the cabs out of anything you want, as long as its the right thickness, doesnt have a serious delamination issue, and is unwarped. If he found that at home depot, more power to him.

All the home depot cabinet wood is covered in a thin laminate that peels very easy with the butt joints used in the plans. You can use it but there is a chance for leaks and other issues due to delamination if you don't take precautions against it.

Re: 4 t30s w/3012LF
So the 4 sheets of 1/2" arauco ply I bought at home depot aren't going to work? The THT I built out of 1/2" Birch from HD isn't falling apart and OMG it has even plys just like this fir I bought. HD doesn't carry a consistent supply of arauco, but you can order it all day long from them and while I can only speak for my HD, they get some real good 1/2" ply in different flavors here and there so I just watch for it and buy it when it is good and buy it when the price is low. Do they have crap 1/2" yup. Do I build my cabs out of it nope.djtrumptight wrote:we are using a 5 ply fir 13/16" that we got @ Home Depot for $27/4x8 sheet......

Some, not all. You have to be smart about what you buy regardless of who your supplier is. There is a lot of hearsay about wood from HD that just falls apart and delaminates, I just haven't had this problem at all, granted I don't buy the wood with the thin presanded layer on it but I don't know why you would buy that stuff anyway it is $10-$15 more a sheet.Zack Brock wrote:All the home depot cabinet wood is covered in a thin laminate that peels very easy with the butt joints used in the plans. Arauco is fine; I've never seen it at HD. On occasion you may find suitable plywood there, though I never have. You'd have to know your wood to be sure that it's any good, and that would put you one up on the HD staff.Jasen Chandler wrote:

Two V plates so we can have them in 2 places if need be. These slam I posted some vids in another thread of them doing insane SPLs.
I wanted to show this picture of how much pack space these take. They are in the 6' bed of my 2006 dodge quad cab.

That's why all trucks should have an 8 ft bed. Bigger is better.

If it's too loud, you're even older than me! Like me.

Ummmmm....be careful transporting your cabs that way. all it takes is a 35 MPH gust of wind to take out your drivers.Jasen Chandler wrote:Two V plates so we can have them in 2 places if need be. These slam I posted some vids in another thread of them doing insane SPLs.

Re: 4 t30s w/3012LF
It seems that you have added a single brace between panels 4 and 5. I thought that this was only necessary with twin drivers. I am just at the stage where I could still add in a similar brace (will be PL-ing panel 6 tonight!). Is it a good idea to install this 4/5 brace, just for that extra bit of security?Jasen Chandler wrote:Southern Utah. Here are some more pics (27" wide).
