I'm looking to get a small mixer... Seems that the Mackies were great but the over all web opinion of them has gone down. The 1202 fits the bill pretty well. Don't really need anything larger than that or any more features. What do you guys think? They seem to come up on Craigslist often for a decent used deal...

I picked up an Alesis MultiMix 8 USB FX off Craigslist for $60 and couldn't be happier.
It fits in the pouch of a case with a single power amp so is super easy to transport for one of my bands where we just need vocals for small bar gigs.
- 4 mic pres with low-cut
- 1 Pre-fader send for monitors
- 1 Post-fader routed to a simple internal effects processor
- A few extra line level stereo inputs
- USB for main mix recording and break music from a PC
Works well when I don't want to haul the StudioLive and spend a half hour setting up PA.

Yamaha MG124CX. The little Yamahas are hard to beat. Check Full Compass and Northern Light & Sound for the best price.

The MG124 looks good. Mute switches, faders and most importantly a pre-fader send.
Before I had the MultiMix, I had a MG82 which had 4 mic pres, which I returned. It felt incredibly cheaply constructed, and it lacked the features I just listed above.

I've been looking at them all weekend. The AH has more of the features I like. Just have never used one. The Mackies are hard to get excited about anymore... Anybody own or used a Zed 14?

Allen and Heath mixers are tremendous! Genuiningly. They are still a true engineering company that doesn't make a bad product for the money.

After looking for a while, the AH seems to be the way to go. Illuminated mutes, Neutrik Jacks, long sliders, customizable midrange, peak indicators for each channel. All things I wish the Mackie had... I bought the Mackie at the Guitar Center presidents day sale but, I think it will go back soon...

Not quite, but close. They do still have a reasonable build quality... but they feel like a copy of a ripoff. (I.E. Behringer ripped off Mackie and then Mackie copied the feature sets of Behringers.....bzb wrote:The Mackie boards are about as crap as the Behringers now.
