Questions about final wiring of speakon jacks

#1 Post by Trauma11 »

So it's been a long time coming but after a 5 month break from working on them, my 4 3012LF Tuba30's are complete to the point that they are ready to be tested and used with a few cosmetics (duratex) left to finish.

I just got a great deal on a used crown xti2000 so Ill be running them with that, now my question is how to do the internal wiring on the speakon jacks to run all four of the speakers at the correct ohm load?

Part of the problem is that I am not exactly sure how crown wires each of their jacks to the four contact points

If somebody could walk me through what cables are needed and how to wire each of the 8 contact points on the two jacks within the speaker that would be awesome. Also I'm assuming all four speakers can be wired the same?

The best way to be sure is to pop the lid of the crown or unscrew the speakon and pull it out.
But its likely wired to +1 -1 inside the amp.
2 TAT 16" loaded with JBL GTO 804 + V plate
Tannoy Precision 8D monitors, Tannoy System 800 monitors
Minidsp 2x4, Berry DCX2496, Lem 420 amplifier

To do:
17" Autotuba with JBL GTO 1002D 10"

That's what I assumed the output was, but still not to sure how to wire the jacks so I can run two speakers per channel

Assuming in some way the two speakon jacks are connected in a way that the second jack becomes an output to the next speaker in the line

How about just grabbing the instruction manual??? or if not on hand, just go to their website for the digital copy. Come on now, it's not pyle we're talking about.

The parallel connection method is described in the plans. You simply bridge the two speak on jacks on each cab like so: 1+ to +1, -1 to -1. Like this, the second speak on of the first cab acts as a coupler for the second cab. If you're going to be running the amp bridged or if you're going to be running four conductor cables, then it get tricky. However, if not, simply use the 1+/1-.

That's why they come with a manual.
If you don't have one download it from Crown.

I looked through what I thought to be the crown manual (a pdf from crowns website) and couldnt find what I was looking for, so thank you for that. Also, I have obviously been through the plans numerous times and I understand the Parallel vs Series wiring in the manual, I just thought that was strictly to do with dual driver enclosures, alas, what you say makes sense

Thanks for the help, my brain is cooked
