01v version?

#1 Post by bzb »

Are there major differences in the versions of the 01v? If so, can anyone identify which this is?

AFAIK there are two versions, the original and the current. That is one or the other. It appears to be the original.

Wasn't positive on that, I see all kinds of designations on various forums. Sounds like this is just the old one (all the 01V96 pics I've seen are blue) that may possibly have the grounding issue. Might still be worth a look, though. Thanks.

I'm not aware of the grounding issue. Mine worked flawlessly.

After searching for a while, I kept noticing this issue popping up on the older ones. Supposedly an easy fix, if it's a problem.

I'm really quite interested in being able to control this via iPad. TouchOSC already appears to work with it.

Went ahead and got it shipped to me. Good thing about buying from GC is having 30 days to try out the used gear :) $386 shipped seemed like a good deal.

The first thing to do is to get the memory cleared, re-setting everything to the default. I found it not the least bit intuitive at first, compared to analog, but after six months with it couldn't imagine going back to analog.

No way, first thing is to get it working with my iPad!

Thanks for the advice, I'm going to download the manual ASAP. I got a chance to play with one for a band, Reality Check, who actually runs DR280s and T48s. He had me on a laptop, mixing them from the center of the room. Needless to say, I was impressed with the whole thing.

Mine didn't have the grounding issue when the previous owner had it, but it apparently got jarred just enough during shipping that it developed the problem. It did turn out to be a simple fix, however. There is a 01V group on Yahoo Groups that you can subscribe to. I got the schematic and instructions for the fix from there.

Keep us posted on the iPad thing...

that definitely an excellent deal....

btw, interfacing with the ipad is neat...

if you have a convertible laptop/tablet like Lenovo X series, then you can use Yamaha's more powerful software...

That's what i was using at their gig on a second laptop. Very good software. Tablet would be nice but i need another device like I need another hole in my rump.

Man I've been waiting for this stuff to filter down to my iPhone. :) I've got an o1v and an LS9 and it would be so cool to use my phone to mix as I walk the room. It wouldn't even need full control, just faders and auxes would be enough.
-1 for thought terminating cliches.

Built and/or own:
8 x T48 24" 3015LF
6 x DR280

1 x TAT
1 x dual Lab12 30" T60

In Progress:
2 x DR280

TouchOSC works on the iPhone. You need a wireless router, laptop, and a USB-MIDI cable.

Edit: I did a bit more research and found this little beast.

Yamaha UX16 Midi/USB

That's pretty slick. I really didn't think that could be done with the original O1V. This takes that old board to a whole new level. I can fire my monitor guy! Well maybe not he's my brother but it looks like we have a new janitor!
