Update: So far, I've watched a few movies with the sub all set up and I can still localize it most of the time. A few notes here and there are more centered in the room but for the most part, I can pinpoint them on the right side. I was just watching Shooter on DVD (action scenes) and I actually felt bass deaf in my left ear, the sub was very localizable during that movie, I was pretty bummed.

My guess is that it's just because of room placement for the cabin and lack of certain acoustic treatment, so it looks like I'm stuck with what I got. I wouldn't mind doing some treatment if I can make it look like it's part of the room, but I'm really not sure where to start. I can get more pictures of the room if that would help, but in the mean time, let me know your thoughts :)

P.S. After you guys set up your speakers and sub with Aydessey, do you then crank your sub up +10db to get the reference settings correct or does Aydessey do that for us already? I left the gain for the sub and mains where Aydessey set them, but I don't know if I should be running the sub hotter. I guess I could just do a pink noise test with my R-Shack meter and see how the db compare between my mains and sub, huh :P

I have bass issues in my set up with the TT also. Just cant decide if its right or not. I also posted on you thread over at the AVS forum. Something I would like to add here is the fact that perhaps you need to go with a multi sub approach to help out with possible/probable room modes. I know I am wanting to build another to hopefully help out with some issues I seem to have.

If I'm sitting in my normal listening spot, I'm about 7 feet from the horn mouth.

How about that filter slope?

I haven't played with that yet. Could that be part of my problem?

Someone already pointed it out and yes, the crossover slope being too gentle will bleed audible amounts of location detectable frequency into the sub.

Just to add a quick update...

The sub has been setup for the past few weeks (minus adjusting the curve),watched a handfull of movies and to say the least, I am pretty impressed with the output from it :) I will post up some pictures of my setup, but in the corner of my sectional (corner of the room) the bass is much more uniform and a little stronger. If I move one seat over, toward the sub, the bass is unfortunately more noticeable that it's in the corner and I can't feel/hear it as much. I wonder if I can do some wall treatments in the corner to more evenly distribute the bass along the 3 main seats.

Pics will be up tomorrow :)

Re:wall treatments traps etc. These have no effect in the very low end. Where they do work is in the upper end of the bass spectrum, and how they work is by preventing reflected waves meeting the original and either augmenting or canceling them, resulting in response peaks and valleys. What's key to making them work, or finding out if they'll work, is identifying room modes via RTA at various locations in the room. If the response peaks and valleys lie above 80Hz, where treatments are most effective, go for it. But if they lie below 80Hz treatments won't do all that much, and using more than one sub to smooth out the room modes is pretty much the only cure.

Just a quick note to digital_chris and BFM to say "THANKS" for posting about the issue of directivity(localization?) w/the TT. I had the same issue, but after reading these posts and adjusting the crossover freq. on the sub amp, the bass magically went from the right hand side of my room to all around me.

When everything's right you get all of your directional information from the mains, including that for the low bass. The low bass isn't actually coming from the mains, but the harmonics of the low bass are, and they give your brain the directional clues, so that's where it decides the low bass is coming from.

Chris where did you get the TT's table top? Did you glue a bunch of boards together?

Thanks for that info :) I still need to play with the internal curve on the amp but that is one of my last options. My LAST option would be to set my crossover point to 60hz and set my mains to large, I noticed that seemed to help out the best when I was initially setting up audyssey, but now, I really don't want to do that but I can't stand feeling bass deaf in my left ear :(

I glued three 1"x12" pine boards to the top of the cab, sanded it down (not enough unfortunately) and stained it along with the rest :)
