gorrila glue or epoxy?

#1 Post by bean438 »

PLans say to use gorilla glue or equivalent. Many are using epoxy.

Just wondering the pros and cons of each.

I already have gorilla glue (original), but I dont mind buying epoxy if there is a benifit.

Thoughts?

Question is for driver mounting woofer to baffle panel.

Epoxy it is then.

Epoxy is all the same, or are there better epoxies out there than others?

Any clear, two-part epoxy you find at the hardware or auto store will work. Just be mindful of choosing one with a reasonable working time. For example: 5 min Epoxy is great for quickly fixing a broken toy, but hardly affords enough time to apply and set a single fastener in the shop, much less several at a time. 30 minute Epoxy makes for a good "all-rounder".

Another vote for 30-minute. I'm about to give up on the T-nuts though. I've not only spun three on my AT, I've also absolutely destroyed two of them.

And we're not talking driver installation.

I will get a 30 minute epoxy.

But does it take more than 5 minutes to set a huricane nut? Doesn't seem that complicated?

Bzb, what going on? 3 spinners, and 2 broken? Yikes.

Are you comfortable taking a crap in between rounds of speed chess? I'm not.
It's not complicated, but it is something you're going to want to get right the first time, unless you enjoy cutting baffles for fun. 8)

+1 Or access covers. I had one spin out on my access cover, was a real pain to fix. Definitely go epoxy, I've given up on gorilla glue.

Cheap nuts. The h-nuts that Leland has are better, but I've spun two of those in different boxes, too.

I was very glad to use screws in the OTs. Too bad it's so difficult to get them into the subs.

I ended up getting Lepage's regular epoxy glue which sets up in an hour.

I figure I will drill the holes, get the h nuts, washer, and screw ready to go, then mix up the epoxy.

60 minutes for 8 holes should be good right?
