Moving Plywood Sheets

#1 Post by UROK »

How do solo builders handle large plywood sheets? There are some products like the Telpro Troll, Gorilla Gripper, and Stanley Panel Carry. Wondered if they were worth the money. Are there other ways?

Yes, panel carriers.
Get the cheap one, it works fine.

Thanks Doug. Looks like you can use the panel carry to help the pull the sheet up onto a table to get it horizontal. Seems like other two not so hot for that.

Or, use a claw hammer...claw holds the load, your hand holds the handle.

Or quickly rig up a similar jig out of scrap wood.

Claw hammer works... but it's not as stable, harder to hold, and bangs your knuckles.
Panel carry is only $6

I just happen to be chief bread-winner here. So...I get the War Office into the workshop to discuss the next kitchen or *insert 'honey do' request area here* and as I talk I try to pick up a sheet.

Of course there's the "Oh good grief that's a huge piece of timber you have there, do you have to handle that all by yourself, are you sure you don't need a hand with that?"

Do you think I am going to say? "Oh women aren't allowed on the ship" ?????......
