It's the result of the earthquake in Chile, the high ground where the pines grows was one of the most damaged, (roads and infrastructure, not the pines by itself) and they are rebuilding the towns with ply houses, so the arauco will back but not in this year.SeisTres wrote:I checked lowes as was thinking about buying a sheet of Arauco and Lo and Behold! I could not find itAnd I just don't mean in my store, I mean in their inventory! Now actually HD carries arauco but it's 23/32.
Does this mean we will not be able to get arauco anymore?![]()
I guess now I'll have to use BB for my dr's too![]()
Is anyone coming up with the same results, or is it just my area???
Where is the Arauco???

Interesting, glad I don't have any projects on the board right now.djwoo wrote:It's the result of the earthquake in Chile, the high ground where the pines grows was one of the most damaged, (roads and infrastructure, not the pines by itself) and they are rebuilding the towns with ply houses, so the arauco will back but not in this year.

Re: Where is the Arauco???
just found 5x5 Baltic Birch for 24 dollars a sheet woohoo.
I'm surprised it's taken so long for this shortage to hit us. I considered stocking up on arauco right after the earthquake, but unfortunatly never did.

Re: Where is the Arauco???
Good thing, as I imagine that by the time you actually used the arauco, it would actually be so warped that you wouldn't need the bendy ply for the back of the dr'ssine143 wrote:

You'll be glad once you start working with BB, it's extremely nice. However, I found the durability of the arauco more than acceptable and now I just see no need to use BB as it is much heavier. Carrying around my 16 t39's is manageable, but TRYING to carry the 16" TT made from BB was total crap. And remember that I pay $22, so almost paying the same for both of those.
