Hi
Its been a while since I've posted,
Just finishing up my DR200 pair and 16" Tuba 24 pair. I want to do a eq setup as accurate as I can in a location that I have to haul all my stuff out to the country.
Is there any problem with running noise through the system in various configs, single, double, sub, no sub, vplated etc but recording the output of my mic to take home and play with at my leisure on my desktop pc. I have do this out of the back of a van at a friends farm 2 hrs away so speed and as little equipment as possible is my goal. I want to enter the results into my DCX parametric to see what I can get.
Well, see any obvious drawbacks to this outfit. Any other kinds of tones or what ever might be of use? Bink CD as sound source, Korg D3200 as recording device. Behringer eq mic. And 200 acres to make some noise.
Thanks for any input

Re: Remote RTA setup
There wouldn't seem to be any benefit to doing so, other than measuring the system. If you want to EQ your system, you should do that while the noise is active and you're watching the RTA.
99% of the time, things that aren't already being done aren't being done because they don't work. The other 1% is split evenly between fools and geniuses.
Re: Remote RTA setup
My thinking is I can go home, feed my recorded signal through my eq into rta (of which I have a few soft versions to choose from) and play with it as time allows.

Re: Remote RTA setup
It also means I have a raw response of my system (as it is now) that I can refer to at any time without hooking up my system

There are web sites that have the impulse response signatures recorded from various venues and acoustic scenarios for convolution purposes.

Swept sines and impulse bursts...
Lots of stuff on impulse recordings and the many uses of convolution
Just one of many libraries:
