first drs
Well I started on my Dr30s. Thank God I found a guy who is a great carpenter. We decided to work with spruce before went on to work with the more expensive birch. I hope we are doing justice to Bill. At first it was to understand the diagrams but we got the the hang of it.

I will be mainly doing church events. Crowds around 10 to 15000. I hope they work for this kind of crowd.

Bit of an overkill for just 10 people I would have thoughtjesuchete wrote:I will be mainly doing church events. Crowds around 10 to 15000. I hope they work for this kind of crowd.

Jesuchete, I'm sure these will be most impressive for you. I mean this well but, I highly recommend you take any "hope" out of the equation and take the time to calculate all the parameters involved in covering that many people. I wouldn't want to guess on any aspect of a job that size, you know what I mean?jesuchete wrote:I will be mainly doing church events. Crowds around 10 to 15000. +1
Don't leave anything to chance when doing something that takes that much time and costs that much money.
To cover 10k-15k people, you will likely need 16-24 of those (depending on desired volume) and just as many Titans. That's a lot of money and time to leave ANY guesswork in there.

You also need to factor how loud you want it. You might not need war volume for all those people.Doug Hart wrote:To cover 10k-15k people, you will likely need 16-24 of those (depending on desired volume) and just as many Titans. That's a lot of money and time to leave ANY guesswork in there.
The balance triangle in this example might be:
.................................................................................................
.......................... number of cabs.............................................
....................../...............................\ .........................................
.......crowd density ----------- distance for required freq@SPL.
.................................................................................................
It's early in the morning, so my brain doesn't have the capacity to fully evaluate this model.
What I am trying to show is, a reduction in distance for required frequency@SPL will increase crowd density for the same number of cabs.
An increase in the number of cabs for the same means either a higher crowd density or a greater distance for required frequency@SPL.
If you need more crowd, you either increase the number of cabs or decrease your SPL for a given distance. etc
(This is based on an assumption that a larger array has more coverage)
I can already see cracks in this - so feel free to pull it to pieces, constructively of course

Re: first drs
This is my first large system. Thanks guys for all the help. I mainly work with churches in africa. I am probably the first to build these in my country. I am currently in canada and I need a supplier for drivers and parts. I am not sure about express shipping to canada ,I won`t be paying customs but have to deal with an hst tax 13%.yikes. check this crowd out.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBWOCMhJ0CA.The crowd was estimated at over 1 million people. I don`t know how they managed relay all the speakers. I know these guys had a system especially built for them. It takes them weeks to setup. I won`t be anywhere near that size yet!!!!!!!!!!

Man those things are big. The only cab I haven't built.
If it's too loud, you're even older than me! Like me.

Re: first drs
Yeah they are huge. I am thinking I need to do a jack or a smaller dr or the smaller venues. I am wondering if the jack would be better than a say a dr20 or dr25. Cost of the Dr300 right now is at about 450. I have smaller venues with about 1000 people how many jacks would I need.
