xti1000 and BFM cabs.
xti1000 and BFM cabs.
Im about to finish up 4 otop212's and 4 t48's. Ive got 4 wh10's all ready done and they sound awesome!
What Im wondering is with xti1000's, what is the maximum number of subs and tops that I can run on each amp?
If I understand it correctly, 3 t48's would divide down to about 3.3 ohms. I could stick these on one channel but would only get about 200 watts to each sub (is that right? Im still learning, go easy on me!) if so, I could get 6 subs on one amp, but would be limited on total ouput and more or less destroy any hopes for headroom....?

Re: xti1000 and BFM cabs.
you might want to pick up a 2000 or even a 4000 for subs, and then run your tops on the 1000 (they will be fine, trust me). you can run 3 on each channel, easy.

You only loose head room when you turn up too much! What you're loosing in this situation is not the headroom but the ability to run the cabs to full output and still have headroom left.Depending on the chosen drivers I would want at least to be able to hit them with their rated RMS power and still maintain a 10db crest minimum. So a 200 watt RMS output per driver would need at least 2000w at around a 40msec crest. 800 watts for a 6db 40msec crest which is still ok for cone drivers.
3.3 a side on a Crown wouldn't scare me.
3.3 on a side of an old iron Crown wouldn't even be a question mark in my book.I've run macro 3600s at 1 ohm with no issues of course not full bore for 3 hours in 100 degree heat! Now I wouldn't try that with that xti!

Re: xti1000 and BFM cabs.
thanks for the quick replys;
Ive got 5 xti1000's to work with, as well as an xls602 and an ep1500. Ive got the 4 wh10's, 4 t48's and 4 otop 2x12's. I know I can run everything comfortably with the power Ive got, Im just wondering how many more cabs I can add before having to purchase more amps. I wont need any more wh10's.

What drivers in each box?

Re: xti1000 and BFM cabs.
delta 15lfa's in the subs, and delta-pro 12's with the ASD 1001's in the tops and beta 10's in the WHs
Re: xti1000 and BFM cabs.
maybe you oughta think about taking three of those XTI 1000 and selling/slimming down two 4000 series. Then you could run 12 T48 from those two (3 per side per amp @ 3.3 ohms) and keep your other two xti 1000 for your four tops. Then use the two leftover amps for monitor duty.
Yum.

Re: xti1000 and BFM cabs.
Wow! that's a lot of xti's. If you sold one you might be able to purchase the drpa, and then if you sold another you could get the the ep4000 or the xls802d(which will be on sale since it's getting replaced by the newer models). But that's alot of money on those xtis that could be put to better use getting bigger amps without the internal dsp.
However, if you do want to keep them, maybe you could bridge them to run two subs each if you're going to need more power on the subs.

Re: xti1000 and BFM cabs.
or better yet, and Itech!
but, if you do have so many xtis, you should be fine, you just need a big rack.

I can say with 92.6481% certainty that you will be clipping the subwoofer amps at a gig.

i know I'm not suppossed to say this.... but he could just use 2 1000s for subs, in bridge mono....

Is true. Or he could sell two 1000s and buy a used 4000.sine143 wrote:i know I'm not suppossed to say this.... but he could just use 2 1000s for subs, in bridge mono....
