My biggest worry is that when I'm dead and gone, my wife will sell my toys for what I said I paid for them.

The inventor must be infrequent or he might have pointed out the missing "corner lopping off" feature that stops the glue from sticking to the caul.

Nope, quite frequent....just didn't look that close. I got the idea years ago from one of my woodworking magazines.

There are several in my shop. After seeing them the first time I immediately went and made some.

Same here. Have 4 made from the excess cut off from the V-plate. Reuse, recycle!

TecThreat showed me these and I was very excited. It was too late to try and use them on the t48s I'm building but wish I could have.

Heres something else for you guys: http://www.stronghandtools.com/products ... g/pga.html

The jaw depth on these expand to 20". That means you can use these jigs for panels that attach to the middle or hard to reach parts of the speaker side where typical clamps can't reach and without having to screw the jigs in. Only thing like this I could find on the internet. I bought 2 but unfortunately it will probably be another month before I can test them on a BFM build. Construction seems very good though. edit: only down side I can think of is that they are heavy.

I have some of the long reach clamps from ViseGrip, they're very handy. They don't have the same high clamping force of the shorter ones though.

I'm making my W clamping cauls right now. Add to that the router jig I saw here, and this place will make a real pro wood worker out of me yet!

Thanks for all the great tips posted here!

WB - Forget the long-reach Vise Grips. That is one STOUT corner brace you've got there; has the appearance of cast iron, but is probably just wood painted black. What are the extra slots for?

Quite correct, it is a cast iron angle plate, machined to a perfect 90 degrees. They're used on milling machine beds and the slots are for clamping to the bed using T-Slot fasteners.

Just a tip here, label your jigs. The W are obvious, but sometimes you make a jig and stash it away... a good bit later you find it and say: what the hell is this for?
