T39s at outdoor show.

#1 Post by Benj Ross »

Hey all,

I just lent out my T39s to some friends for a solstice party. They are 20" wide BP102 loaded. I dropped them off last night and only had a minute to set them up today before the show. I do mean just a minute. They were starting the sound check when I got there and the rack for the titans was still in the van. I threw them together and away they went.

I know it is starting to sound cliche but WOW! They had some Carvin 15" mains and various amps on stage and the T39s just dwarfed them all. They never broke a sweat and they were leading the whole show. Big round bottom with plenty of Kick drum in there. the bluegrass band with an upright bass and a solid kick was awesome! All the other gear started to sound really weak and distorted after I really started listening. Poor dispersion, lacking clarity, etc and so on. No surprises on this forum, but I hadn't really experienced it yet for myself. I have had these things for 2 years, but my band broke up and I have not used them a good show yet. They have been used as a bass extension speaker before, this time I got to V-plate them in front of the stage!

I can't wait till I get my two jack 112s done and run them all together just for my Bass :loler: ( I know that it is not really a good idea, but I just want to make a few forrest creatures migrate like they are avoiding an earthquake. just once...)

Cheers,

Haha! That is awesome. How big of a crowd? And what is a solstice party?

It was a summer soltice party. Longest dAy of the year. It a big deal out here in the islands.

There were probably about 200 people there but they were pretty spread out. There was a barbeque happening to stage right. This weekend I will be finishing my other j112. Hehehe...
