30" T48s retired after 2 years hard service

Used with T-Nuts and no glue, they had obviously worked themselves out a little during their time in service. Given that it only took a couple of minutes to remove the cover, it is probably good preventative maintenance to check these every quarter.

Makes me want to pull mine and get some lock-tite in there.

Would a dab of silicone work as good? My thinking is that loctite is more permanent whereas silicone will allow the vibrations to pass through but resist the fastener from turning. When the fastener has to be removed, it still can but with a rubbery feel, no risk of fastener damage. I've done this on bolts and nuts with success.

they make several grades of loctite, some are less permanent.

The blue stuff (I forget the number) is usually used for vibration issues.



the red stuff is for pissing off the next owner of the car, or more commonly - securing flywheel bolts..

Yeah, the blue is what I have already. Used it to "permanently" affix the adaptors on my Tama mic stands. Had to trade up to super glue after they kept coming off with the mics and mic clips. Plenty strong to keep things from backing out on their own. Not so much that it'd strip things on the way out.

I go through a good bit of the blue stuff on my bikes and truck. Was natural to use it on the cabs.
