hole cutter
while pricing hole saws, I came across a flycutter at sears. It is 20 bucks, and will go from 1" to 6". I cut 18 4.875" holes and 32 1.5" holes in my tlah's. You must use this with a drill press. I used MDF, and the cuts were absolutely perfect! half the price of 2 hole saws, and can be used for other small speaker sized holes.

OK if you have a large press, try using one with a hand drill and you might lose it. The hand, that is.chopperguy99 wrote:while pricing hole saws, I came across a flycutter at sears. What Bill said.
I've used flycutters, and find them too scary.

If it's too loud, you're even older than me! Like me.

I always buy cheap for applications in plywood. I got this same set for $3.99 when it was on sale.

Here's it's smaller brother. It goes on sale for about $5 too.

When they're on sale, less than half the price of the flycutter, and about 10 times safer!
Plywood, MDF, paticleboard, etc. will eat the heck out of your tools. The cheapest stuff you can find is good enough for this application. Even if the entire set was trash after I got done with a set of DR's, it only cost $2 a speaker.

A friend in need is a good reason to screen your calls.
