So I had a thread in the DR Horn Loaded Bass/Keyboard/PA Speakers page asking questions while I was building my pair of DR250's.
My Original Thread
I thought I'd post a review here since I finally had a chance to hook them up to the PA head.
Using the 250 loaded with deltalite 2510 neos as vox only PA speaks.
I was sort of nervous because all I have access to at this point it a Yamaha EMX 512 powered box mixer that belongs to our drummer. Reading about the systems here with the power amps, DSP's, and computer measuring and EQing I was worried that I didn't have the proper equipment to drive them.
Hooked them up and ran some music through them, tweaked the EQ a little, well maybe more than a little because normally the head is driving a pair of no name 15" direct radiators that sound don't sound so good. The music sounded great through them, clear and loud. I was able to push them louder than I thought they would go. They had some nice bass too.
Hooked up a mic, sang a little through them. Ho*y crap boy do they sound great, clear, articulate, natural sounding. They are going to work out really well in our bar gigs where we need to bring PA. I can't wait to try them out in a band setting and see the look on my bandmates faces when they hear them for the first time.
So in conclusion, although I would like to build my PA up with separates, a decent box mixer will drive them just fine. I mean they have to be better than anything else that's hooked up to a powered box mixer.
So now I have a pair of DR250's and a wedgehorn 8, I wonder what I'll build next?
Another wedgehorn would be nice.....

Good to hear! Now waiting for a PA report!
How about building and O15? (for a bass)

Re: DR250's
It's not that all the stuff we talk about is required. But to tweak every last bit of quality out of DR's you need good eq. They sound good with minimal eq, even a 7 band will get them there. But with the whole smear, tweaked and tuned, they are astounding.
Congrats.
Congrats.

If it's too loud, you're even older than me! Like me.

Re: DR250's
That's awesome MPM and really killer job. Those aren't easy speakers to build. I too will be finding out what it feels like to have that overwhelming sense of accomplishment in building high-end professional speakers.
Great job, friend!!
