Wow! Service at Acry-Tech
Wow! Service at Acry-Tech
I just got through ordering some Duratex from Dan, what great service. I got a custom green color. I decided what color I wanted on 05/21. He said it might take him a while to match it. I received a shipping confirmation the very same day! It arrived a week later and was the exact color I wanted. Now I have to check on my buddy's wood working progress. He was helping me build the box. I am getting excited. If you want something durable (just read the reviews on duratex) but want to stand out from the crowd, just get a custom color of duratex. Black is $52. My custom color was $65. I think it's worth the $13 to have something unique to me and the great service I received was icing on the cake. Thanks Acry-Tech!

So about the duratex, since I am doing a brighter green I wouldn't prime with black would I? I still want to paint the face of the cab black but I am not buying black duratex right now, plus it will be covered by a grill cloth. What could I use to paint the "baffle" of my Omni 15 black? Thanks for the advice, friend is in AZ for a little longer.

Just get some cheap white latex primer, have the store tint it green, it doesn't have to match, just be green. Or thin some duratex and roll it on as a primer.

+1. A 75% DuraTex/25% water mix works very well.LelandCrooks wrote: Or thin some duratex and roll it on as a primer.

What about the "baffle" (the front of the cab)? I don't want the green poking out under the speaker cloth. What will do the job here?

Could I do a black latex on the front of the cab, let it dry, mask it, then do the diluted duratex, then two coats of regular duratex? Any idea if that would work? I will be doing a speaker cloth on the front, I just don't want bright green poking through.

I don't have experience with different colours so I can't give a solid answer. But others have.LelandCrooks wrote:Just get some cheap white latex primer, have the store tint it green, it doesn't have to match, just be green. Or thin some duratex and roll it on as a primer.
If you are using cloth, then just black paint would do. Tape off the black,( let the front edges show with the sides) and treat the rest as described previously. This helps, no?JoeVictim wrote:Could I do a black latex on the front of the cab, let it dry, mask it, then do the diluted duratex, then two coats of regular duratex? Any idea if that would work? Yes, thanks. After asking around, I will tape off the "lip" of the omni and paint the "baffle" black with flat black latex. Once that it dry, I will brush the inside of the lip with duratex and roller the rest of the cab. This makes the most sense to me and once I get the box, I'll post some pics to show you what I mean so this will hopefully help anyone contemplating a similar finish.
Custom Colors FTW! Since I'll be getting a rackmount head (eventually the Carvin BX1500) I'll see about duratexing the rack too. Should be all nice and pretty when I am all done

Could not agree with you more on the level of service from acrytech
I recently ordered a gallon of a custom red color and when I applied it I was unhappy with the color (a little to much orange in it) so I sent a email to them explaining that I was unhappy with the color and they are sending me another gallon that is tinted darker free of charge! No complaints here!
