THT's and dubstep

#1 Post by Monomer »

As a lot of you know, I took delivery of Wi's six THT's last Monday. While he was up this way, we did a show at ClubFT - the usual Sunday hangout.

2foot wide tht's were easy to pack up and move around. We got setup at around 7:30, after only arriving at 7. Had two DVC loaded THT's in a room 15ftx50ft. I placed one in each corner in the back of the room. Horn fired 18 inches off each side wall. Bass was even and unruly. Z did an needle drop and I swear everyone nearly passed out.

Wi dropped an evil jungle set. I wish we had more of that around here.

Serax dropped some dub that had the entire place moving.

But, the best part: One guy (I get horrible with names) I was talking too said he was supposed to be home hours ago, and asleep already. HE STUCK AROUND TO SEE WHAT IT SOUNDED LIKE CRANKED, which by 11pm when Wi went on, is just what we did. He sat on one of the tht's for quite awhile.

I stuck to around -7db on the processor, with the limiter set to plus five for 32vAC the titans would have required. Little issues with the QSC PL2.0 used for the tops - it didn't like any clipping that the GEQ was sending it (mixer was ran hot all night) -15 db on the GEQ and the gains on the DS back to around zero and it was perfect.

Nice report.

I've been listening to some dubstep after hearing about it from some of the BFM crowd. Some of the sounds are just crazy even with my modest current system. I can't wait to hear it with a THT! :chainsaw:

Building dual omnitop 15's and crossing lower.

Crossed at 120Hz, they do sound a little funky.

I need to load up the other four and find a venue big enough for me to go wide open

Feel, it's all about how the music affects you beyond hearing.

Wi was right, the vibe at the party was thick enough to cut with a knife.

I had a genius idea.

The kind of idea that can only be fueled by newports, 40's and porchtime.

I'm going to get motion-sickness bag (aka puke bags) with my logo/name on them, kind of like a business card. Pass them out at shows.

They'll be highly collectible in the underground here. "You have an UNUSED nps puke bag!!?" highly sought after....

Can you plug the camera's memory card straight into a reader on your PC?

Damage report:

I went back to the venue to hangout last night. Luke's brother Mike's (a regular) rib became dislodged that night (so he says) Good new is, the bass relaxed the muscles in his leg a bit.

I'll believe it when he gets me the xrays

also, Paging John Bowman. Your input in this thread would be nice!
