What settings for limiter/filter? HELP please...
used twice so far but have no settings in place for my limiter and I need help on the fly for this weekend to protect me...here is mysetup:
2 ch. dj amp, 2 titan 39s as my subs, 2 self powered mackie srm 450s for my tops and the way its setup is this...the behringer cx2349 is set to LHLHLH...channel 1 of the crossover out is both my subs (going to ep2500 amp in channel 1 from crossover-->then output 1 and 2 from amp to each titan 39...channel 2 from crossover is going to left mackie and channel 4 from crossover is going to right mackie...can someone help me set this limiter and what is the best settings for an indoor wedding (on the crossover that is, what settings am i gonna find the best)
--2nd question if anyone can help...I didnt think all this was loud enough last event i did (the combo of my mackies and t39s) am i doing something wrong?...so my question is this: CAn i somehow use my mackies (tops) at full range along with using my titan 39s?? there has to be a way it seems...

Re: What settings for limiter/filter? HELP please...
You didn't say if you are using an external eq or if your dj amp is stereo. Either way, you can split the signal path at the dj amp sending a full range signal to the mackies and then send the same signal to the x-over for the t39s. If the dj amp is stereo, a Y adapter would connect at the outputs of the amp (right and left). Then connect the cables from the Y to the respectful speakers and x-over. Hope this helps. Re: What settings for limiter/filter? HELP please...
Using your Mackies at full range, and using your T39s below say 100Hz, is wrong, wrong, wrong! Having multiple sources of the same frequencies, in my example everything below 100Hz, will cause lots of cancellation nodes. Basically, you will be doing more "harm" to the sound than good. Run from the mixer into the crossover. Split the signal 100Hz and up to the Mackies, 100Hz and down to the T39s amp. Run both T39 on the same channel of the amp. Use the highest slope of crossover you have, 24dB/oct or 48dB/oct. Linkwitz/Riley is the preferred crossover type, and 48dB/octave is the preferred slope.

hollywd901, What drivers are you using in your T39's?

Re: What settings for limiter/filter? HELP please...
Did you not get the dcx2496 in the end?
I'm in the same boat getting instructions on setting a compressor/limiter for hard limiting. I gather to wind up the ratio to infinity and set attack and release as short as possible. I also gather this will sound terrible if it actually engages but that's all good as it tells you to turn it down a bit.
According to what someone posted in your last thread the rated power of the EP2500 amp is 450W / channel same as 3012LF T39. I don't see any advantage in putting them both onto one channel. V plating and boundary loading gets you free dB. Like doubling the cab count compared to flat on the floor in the middle.
I have played with similar Mackie tops, possibly not as powerful as your ones but they look very much the same ones. They were just keeping up with live drums and bass backline. The thermal limiter kicked in on one.
From what I've read on here two T39 indoors, driven even half power, should be all over 300W driven regular tops so forget about trying to make the whole shebang louder by giving the Mackies bass as well. I forget the recommended max crossover freq but that's your best bet for getting the most total volume.

Maybe im misunderstanding you.If not,you have your set up connected wrong. What you need is a dj mixer with a main out and a record out.Since your mackies are powered, you dont need to run them through a cross over, use the mixer "record out" straight into the mackies, that will give u a stereo sound which is better for DJing, then run your main outs to the crossover and from the crossover you can run each sub on independent stereo channels giving you more power and headroom. Also is your crossover able to do mids in stereo ? Mine isnt,it only has highs and lows in stereo which means if i run my tops through it without bi amping i get no lows from my tops.

I think you might be missing the point. He's using the Mackies as mains, not dj monitors. What you're recommending would make sense if he had separate tops to use for mains, but he doesn't, so it makes more sense to take the output off the mixer, run it to the crossover, and then high pass the mackies and low pass the subs.

Re: What settings for limiter/filter? HELP please...
IM using the dcx2496 crossover that i purchased...still learning the ropes and Im also using behringer ep2500 amp for my titan 39s which have the 3012lf drivers in them...
...so using my mackies at full range is a nono along with my t39s?? is that the consensus...b/c something is not sounded loud enough...
...also still need some basic help on setting my limiter...
...i do have my crossover point at 100 using the LR type on my crossover selection...what is the best slope for the dcx2496?? given the configuration I'm using and the speakers I have?

I understand now,he didnt mention the dcx2496 initially,i thought he had a regular crossover and was running both tops on the same channel.

RTM mate, there are bound to be instructions to set it for hard limiting. Got A/C voltmeter?hollywd901 wrote:..also still need some basic help on setting my limiter...

Re: What settings for limiter/filter? HELP please...
I thought that's what the link I posted was doing. Did it not make sense to you? If not, was it the whole thing that didn't make sense or were there specific parts that didn't make sense? I'm trying to understand because if I would have tried to give a simple explanation, it would have been a lot like the steps in that link. And I'm not an audio expert either. So, help us understand what you do and don't understand from those instructions, and that will help us help you.

Re: What settings for limiter/filter? HELP please...
its too much to take in i think at the moment...i just need basic limiter settings to use tomorrow night til i can understand...i mean i wanna be protected somewhat,,,are there people that would say as long as im not clipping then i should be fine with no limiter set?? just curious...and about the mackie question,,,does anyone use them at full range along with t39s...someone said it would cancel....is that true? thanks
Re: What settings for limiter/filter? HELP please...
Nobody can give you that because everybody's equipment is different. You need sine waves and a voltmeter to set your system.hollywd901 wrote:i just need basic limiter settings to use tomorrow night til i can understand
I think it's already been mentioned it's a nono.hollywd901 wrote:and about the mackie question,,,does anyone use them at full range along with t39s...someone said it would cancel....is that true? thanks
