Dec. 9th Hartford WI Show a Succsess

#1 Post by chad »

The show ran very smooth and at peak the bar owner Scotty said there was approx 250 people in there (packed nuts to butts). The amp on the four dr's was pushing 225 watts per cab (crown CE1000) and clipped occasionally on loud vox and snare drum. Two dr's on top of one tuba 36 a side with the tubas facing the side wall and the DR's shimmed to point straight out. The tubas had a bridged plx 3002 on them, never clipped and shook the house pretty good. The ceiling is real low in this place so the pa stacks stood about 4-6 inces from the ceiling.
The sound as described by the owner was very full and crisp and decievingly loud. After the show my ears werent ringing too bad ( I do put ear plugs in at time to time) . I think that the extra distortion in a conventional P.A. cab fatigues your ear more than a super clean sounding rig. Scotty (bar owner) was so impressed that I got more gigs from him and he threw me an extra hundred bucks  He describes all of the other part time sound he hires as fuzzy distorted crap. I did not expect my cabs to perform this well. The sizzle you can get from line arrayed piezos is staggering. Now I really want to hear a DR 290 (or four) and a T-48 (or four). It sounds sick, but I think I still need more P.A., especially lows. 2 more 36's 2 more DR's THEN start on 4 T-48 and 4 DR-290!! OH Crap! I almost forgot about the monitors
