Any amp with auto power on?
Any amp with auto power on?
My youngest daughter is showing an interest in playing keyboard, so I'm trying to find a simple setup for her where she only has to turn on the keyboard power to start playing. Ideally I'll be using two satellite speakers and an AT and it would be great if I could put a plate amp in the sub and just keep it by the keyboard to keep the wiring all tidy. The only thing I know of is the Dayton MCA2550D 2.1 Channel Class D Amplifier but the xover is 250hz. Of course I could just run the two satellites but it would be nice to have the sub!
Re: Any amp with auto power on?
I don't know of any pro power amps that have remote triggers, but you could try a small HT amp and rig a 12v trigger line from the keyboard power switch. But, that would require opening the keyboard and doing a little solder work.
Sorry I can't help more than that.

An option would be to use a power strip with an on/off switch.

Well, Brent, after I posted this that's what I thought of too. Sounds too simple though. I need something complicated, 'ya know? Maybe I'll get one of those remote control smart strip thingies so we can lose the remote and then end up just using a power strip.

I much prefer to have things unnecessarily complex as well. I find, however, that this behavior is troubling to others.
Velcro the remote switch to the keyboard. Or, just teach her to press two buttons, instead of one.

I'm not sure if you've seen the powerstrips that have a control plug? When you turn off the 'control' item, the powerstrip shuts off the other plugs. Obviously it was meant for a computer and printer/scanner/others, but seems easy for your situation too. You don't even need to turn off the control strip.

I've never used a control powerstrip but that certainly seems like it would work well. Apparently they have some kind of adjustment for sensitivity which some reviewers said didn't work well for them but it's probably what I'm gonna use. I was looking at some of those 41hz audio kits today too. Doubt if I'll go that route since I already have too many irons in the fire but it would be fun to build a dedicated amp and have the 'power on' built into it.
