{edit} Hey DJ Phatman, Just saw your location of Eastpointe which ends up being just over 3 hours away from me. I'm out of the Cleveland area and maybe sometime when it gets nicer I would definitely be up for meeting up and doing some playing. I would definitely be up for listening, playing with, and measuring some BFM cabs I haven't gotten too. Anyway, I'm always up for stuff like that and don't mind driving!

Between DJPhatman, Myself, Monomer, and a few others here in town I think we might just have a complete showroom of BFM products if we were to all bring our gear to the same place at the same time. If we don't yet, give it another year, since the bug seems to be spreading. (After my 250s I have plans for Jacks and Wedgehorns...)

Now there's a thought. the ultimate BFM speaker shootout, bull session, etc. We could make sure we've got a proper area set up with SMAART and any other measurement gear needed, and generate a whole new assortment of real-world SPL charts. It would have to wait until it's a bit warmer outside, but we could find someone with a nice patch of open land and go nuts.

I'd bring my stuff, and wine, if we all met up in Ohio. Unless the shootout coincided with one of my trips up to Lansing, then Detroit would be a possibility.

Speak for yourself - I've got at least 5 different microbreweries within 15 minutes of my house with a variety of dark, rich, flavorful (and potent!!) beers...

Yes, some are very potent. I made the mistake of ordering what was touted to be a Pale Ale ( my favourite drop ) in a MicroBrewery/Restaurant in PA. I wondered why after 1 pint I felt I had completed 3 space orbits. Then, my son Campbell points out that the beer was 7.9% Crikey - here they'd call that Barley Wine!

Of course I had to have another to make sure they hadn't made a mistake

There were 3 commercial beers I liked - Sam Adams, Shiner Bock ( introduced by Leland ) and Fat Tyre. The rest were worse than weasel's pee sorry to say.

I was imagining a 6- or 7-way system. Screw phase coherency - we'd run the THTs from 2-45, the T36s from 45-85, the DRWiKs from 85-200, etc, etc.... Imagine the noise we could make.

Ya, that would be fun. And we could decide how serious we would want to get with organization of measurements and such. I could bring at least Growlers, SRX718's, and U15's if it was wanted, again for comparison sake. I could bring a basic Smaart rig, I would like another measurement mic besides my beat up Behringer one. I have had very good luck measuring subs on ground plane.

It could be really cool to like measure someone's subs that has a "V-plate" as a single, as a pair, as a pair V'ed, and as a pair V'ed with the plate. To get some more real world data on what exaclty changes, and how much changes.

If we just have an open field or open lot we could get some pretty accurate sub measurements all things considered.

Ya for taking measurements and basic mid level listening (Under 100dBA) we wouldn't need a crazy amount of power, but would obviously we wouldn't want to generator to have any effect on the measurements.

In a decent field where I live, when I usually take measurements I just run a thick AC run for mains power. If we can even get stiff AC source and use a 100ft 8/3 or so for power, we should be good enough to not get much voltage sag even if I bring a PL380 that we could use for high power since it is very efficient. (Obviously for the BFM cabs, they don't need gobs of power, but it could be educational to see how what they do with a good amount of power. Though I'm not proposing we try and see where the limits of some people subs are, I wouldn't say no if someone said to turn it up!)

When we get 100ft away from major boundaries and if we are measuring subs at 10ft or less away we shouldn't see any kind of major difference if the building 100ft away wasn't there.
