Yep. Although that would be way beyond my needs.

http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/EPQ304.aspx

10"/257mm depth, fits a shallow (effects size) rack. 4kg weight for four channels. Interesting times we live in.

Also in one rack space and 11 pounds:

EUROPOWER EPQ1000
2 x 530 Watts into 4 Ohms; 2 x 290 Watts into 8 Ohms
MSRP $ 339.99 USD

You would guess they street price just under $300 and would be perfect for Wedgehorn 8's with Beta 8a's.

I knew somebody would go after the Peaveys. Crown's much maligned (unfairly) XLS series has gotten a total reboot. They weigh 8lbs or less, built in dsp, massive power, and look like a million bucks. Hard limiters, 24db slope crossovers, configure the xovers however you like for hp or lp.

Mfg has begun on the entire series, 4 amps, shipping in March. I questioned stability as opposed to the old style amps and the Crown rep told me they beat the hell out of them in design and testing. He also said driven to clipping is almost inaudible, the limiters are so well designed. 1 chip replaced almost 600 parts in the circuit. Still 2u space. Retail starts at $299. I'll get a pic today. See them at speakerhardware sometime after March.

So what will be the difference between the XTi and the new XLS series?

I have been wanting a four channel solution for monitors for a long time. The old peaveys are heavy and not easy to find and carvin discontinued their 4x.

Looks like they're having problems deciding whether this is rated at 750 or 1kW bridged into 8ohm.

Compare these pics:

That's funny. The specs don't mention bridged power either.

That EPQ1000, 1u bridged and 300 bucks, might get me back into a 2u racked pre/power setup. Ugh. :)

The rate power amp tech is expanding is insane :)

Talked to the rep at the NAMM show today and he said the XLS is basically a stripped down version of the XTi's, they are also smaller at a little over 8" to a little over 10" deep and 8+ and 10+ lbs., i'll post a short video titled "2010 NAMM" in it is the new small Behringers, XLS and IPR's plus the new Eminence Lab 15

So I didn't know anybody else was attending. Damn, we could have gotten together. I won't be there Sat. Burned out. The differences I got from them are basically less DSP control in the xls vs xti. BUT, and it's a big but, the new xls have a proprietary chipset they've developed for limiting and noise control. It does not crunch the peaks, but rather moves the entire signal down, losing no dynamic range in the signal. It also recognizes 60 cycle hum, loops, fluorescent noise, and any spurious electrical noise in the signal. The guy I talked to today said it's the future of amplifiers. At the demo he attended when they were first shown to the reps, the clip lights were on the whole time, just to show how hard they could be driven with no audible changes. Stable to below 2 ohms, though they don't recommend them.

The top two xls models will certainly compete with the bottom two xti's, no doubt. Better bang for the buck.

I'm flying out Sunday. I'm quite a ways from the show, staying in Sherman Oaks at relatives. The almost 2hr drive back (should be 45 minutes) tonight convinced me 2 days was enough. Damn lakers game. Traffic downtown was horrendous.
