I have a question if anyone can help. I built my first 30" T48. turned out really nice. I ordered a 3015LF but I wanted to check out the sub so I loaded a peavey BW 1505-DT 4 ohm that I had laying around.
1505 DT Power capacity: 1400 W Peak, 700 W Program, 350 W Continuous
Sensitivity: 97.9 dB / 1 W 1 m
Usable freq. range: 40 Hz ~ 2 kHz
ran a 30 hz tone and checked for leaks with a hose. all checked out good.
I want to set the limter so I don't let the smoke out.
I'm figuring 350 w @ 4 ohms is 37 v max did I figure this right
why when I ran the 30 hz test tone I had only 18 volts reading and the speaker started to burn. is it because I was under the 40 hz rating.

Re: setting limiter with my 1505-DT speaker
The 1505 only has 4.8mm xmax and won't take more than 100 watts (20 v) before reaching xmax within the suggested bandwidth for the T48. At 30 Hz it will only take 10v.

You can only figure it out via software modeling the driver/cab combination.shawnondrums wrote:Thank you Bill. is there a formula for figuring out that or is this info written somewhere. just trying to learn all I can.
