Re: Looking for WAF on wall plates

Speakon is a bit much for home Theater. Banana terminals or binding posts are more than sufficient.

Re: DR200 port tuning question

I had a pair with the convertible port. I never used the port extensions beyond playing with them a time or two. You can accomplish the same thing by boosting the bass EQ a bit. For vocals and 12 string guitar, you should be fine with the standard config. If you need more than what EQ can give you, ...

Re: Trivia question

If you have replacement cost insurance be sure to submit them at the equivalent retail value on Bill’s website, or get a quote from an authorized builder. Your sweat equity is worth something.

Re: Horn sheath material choices with a vacuum press.

As far as being an authorized builder, that bridge may get crossed at some point, but I'm not in a hurry for that to happen, we make money with kitchen cabinets and the other stuff we do. Just to clarify what everyone is trying to politely tell you... * The prevailing opinion on the forum (fostered...

Re: T39 Spacing?

This isn't so much about the sound here as the stage. If this is a piano recital hall, I assume you're planning on having a piano on that stage, which appears to be 2x4 frame and leg construction with a single sheet of plywood on top. From experience at many churches and in my own home... that is no...

Re: Trivia question

Water in and of itself does damage, but the type of water you get in a flood is filled with nasty stuff, and tends to be pretty corrosive. If you have insurance, you will probably be making a claim anyway... just let the insurance pay for it. If you don't have insurance... well... I'd plan on replac...

Re: Plate Amp for Wedgehorn.

None of Bill's cabs are designed to accept a plate amp. Not specifically, but most plate amps really are a plate, not an enclosed box, and when that's the case the volume they take up isn't problematic. You do have to find a way to mount them avoiding/moving braces. As for Wedgehorns, in most cases...

Re: Otop 12s to borrow / rent in the UK?

You Brits have an odd concept of what's "too far." I looked up that distance and it's well within what I'd consider my normal travel area for work. Usually an overnight if it's anything more than a service call, but I have at least three regular events each year at a greater distance than that and q...

Re: any phase traces out there?

Because they're still better than point source horns. Better than anything in their cost class, for diy, I’ll give you. Better than ALl point source horns? I’ll take the point source horns in my rcf boxes for sound quality and feedback control on stage any day, and the pattern is plenty wide. That s...

Re: any phase traces out there?

Respectfully, Huh? Planars have a much wider and smoother radiation pattern than the piezo arrays. There is almost no difference between on and off axis. If anything, MORE HF energy would have returned to the mics with the planars in the configuration they were deployed. That aside, I ran some side ...

Re: any phase traces out there?

There's nothing to be sorry about. You can't hear phase. You also can't hear response deviations at more than 1/6 octave resolution. That's why I don't even look at phase charts. If there's an issue with respect to phase in the crossover region it will show up on the response chart, if there's a re...

Re: any phase traces out there?

Thanks for the replies. That is not exactly what I expected, but it is exciting to see. What software are you using? I believe that was done with REW. It was probably seven or eight years ago at this point (those attachmnets were uploaded in November 2011, so sometime before that) so I don’t rememb...

Re: any phase traces out there?

I took two comparative traces of my DR200s when I had them, one with ribbons and the other with piezo arrays. Spl is uncalibrated and measurement conditions were not precisely identical but you’ll get the idea. And you don’t want to know what the unsmoothed Response of the melded arrays is. Sorry gu...

Re: How to build Rack Panels and put together a rack

Just a note on the sticking rack drawers... it’s a good idea to leave a rack space between. You can leave it open for loose storage or put a panel there... but the problem comes from the weight of the drawers. If your drawers have rear supports, sometimes fastening those a little higher, or just shi...

I cannot count the number of ways this one is offensive.

And for the record, there is absolutely no reason that I should be targeted with this type of ad.
