Re: SLA Home Theatre Build - UK Newbie Alert

Hi all, I've been a bit quiet on here but have been slowly beavering away in the garage as and when I have had time and some spare cash to buy odds and ends. Progress to date, my 2 garage whizzer SLAs are completed. These have been my test speakers and I've learnt a lot making these 2 that I can hop...

Re: SLA Home Theatre Build - UK Newbie Alert

Thanks Bill, as informative as ever. I did measure up and they're spot on with the plans. I got a second garage SLA together over the weekend and both sound great. Just need to add some damping material, terminal posts and the back panels and I'm going to call these 2 done. As they're going to live ...

Re: SLA Home Theatre Build - UK Newbie Alert

@cbarth: Sounded pretty good to me when I gave it a trial. @djphatman: Not sure if they should be touching or not tbh, I measured to the centre of the cone as per the plans and this is how they fit. I'll re-measure to make sure it's 4.5 inches though now you've pointed that out. I don't have a compr...

Re: SLA Home Theatre Build - UK Newbie Alert

Loudspeaker freaks, on back order. Not 100% confident they will ever arrive but I've placed an order and they've taken my money so let's see.

Re: SLA Home Theatre Build - UK Newbie Alert

Here's where I'm up to with the 6 driver SLAs; building one at a time. Looks pretty rough, my saw isn't cutting very cleanly so I'm going to get some thinner blades for the next one. Also, some of the angles etc are a bit off and I'm hoping some heavy sanding will correct this. My first experience o...

Re: SLA Home Theatre Build - UK Newbie Alert

Saw porn? I'm sure I don't want to Google that. Got quite a bit done over the weekend, and completely changed my original plans. After studying the David plans a bit more I realised some of the recommended speaker specs were the same as the Tuba 18 and SLA mid drivers. So I decided to buy more drive...

Re: SLA Home Theatre Build - UK Newbie Alert

Ha, I didn't think videos of me sawing wood would be all that interesting.

I can provide some pics though, just need to resize them as they're above the 200kb limit at the moment.

Hoping to get some work done today as well so will update with progress and pics.

Re: A stereo SLA build with 9 drivers each

I hope mine look even half this good when finished.

SLA Home Theatre Build - UK Newbie Alert

Hi all, Relatively new to the forum, getting ready to start my first build, a home theatre setup with 2 x 4 speaker SLAs as fronts, a 6 speaker curved SLA and 2 surrounds. Bought the plans for all at New Year and thought I'd create a build thread to show progress and beg for advice when it all goes ...
