Re: Handmade Tube Guitar Amp project

Thanks, all. The BFM stuff I've done has been more industrial, which looks great in its own right, but this I wanted to truly be something to look at. It was my first time doing anything with vacuum tubes, first time wrapping anything in Tolex, by far the most involved electronic project I've done, ...

Handmade Tube Guitar Amp project

Last spring, I needed a project for an computer/networking/electronics program. I went old-school...designing and building a hand-wired tube guitar amp. I was able to make the amp work in time to graduate in May, but it took a bit longer to finish, as these things often do. Over the past month, I wa...

If you absolutely can't go vertical, go crossfire.

Re: Wire Gauge for Speakers.

+1 on Neutrik connector line...especially the NL2FX Connectors. +1 on the 'Talent' 12ga bulk speaker wire. All my cables are this. The Talent cable is ok, but their LED PAR lights sucked...My old pastor 'hit a deal' and bought 8. Had to take a few back for being DOA (1 dead, 1 didn't respond to DMX,...

Re: custom dj mixer enclosure/Tuba45 down fire stands/LED Banner

I'm still in the learning process of it all and here's what I've learned so far; They're primarily designed as a DAW controller (to my surprise). The full size X-Touch is the only one that will connect directly to and work with the XR18 and X32 right out of the box (well... after a firmware update)...

Re: Info about generator power output

Everyone above is right. I'll throw in as well. Your gennie is fine. I've run a lot more off of my Honda EU2000i 2000w gennie (just a bit less power than a standard 15-amp wall plug), and I've run tons more than that (full stage, projector, some LED lights) off of two EU2000i gennies (my PA on my ge...

Re: custom dj mixer enclosure/Tuba45 down fire stands/LED Banner

I've primarily used my PC for control of either. But, I just got an X-Touch tactile control surface and got it connected wirelessly to the M32C mixer's network with a WiFi Bridge. Gotta say, there is something about having an actual fader/attenuater/slider/(whatever you wanna call it) to touch that...

Re: Speaker wire gauge?

I recently upgraded a friend of mine's band with some stage snakes. Their stage setup time is down by probably 20 minutes....and connections are being made with 10,15, 20 cables instead of 30s and 50s to get all the way across the stage. So, any wiring scheme that makes your life easier is wonderfu...

Nice looking cabs. I haven't seen many of the 4" versions yet. Awesome!
Its 4 as in 4 x piezo and 4 x alpha 6. So not the 4"
Oh, ok. For some reason it looked different. Just means they're louder!

Re: custom dj mixer enclosure/Tuba45 down fire stands/LED Banner

I know this thread has marinated a little. I must have missed it when it was fresh. Glad to see you ended up with the XR18. I remember you asking about mixers when you finished up your tubas. I have the XR18 and M32C. Having used both, I'm super impressed with everything the XR18 is. I did one show...

Re: Amp rack questions

Unless you need the visibility, go get yourself some black 12/3 sjoow cord . I have a strict "no orange or yellow cords" on the stage policy. I actually got dinged by a fire marshal who said that Orange cords are for 'temporary emergency usage only'. I do everything in my power to avoid orange cord...

Re: Otop Jarray build x 4

I was a fan of using the textured rollers until I tried spraying on the 'roller grade' with a drywall texture spray gun. I love the finish that results from that!
I still paint the cabs first with cheap black latex, though.
