Re: Simplexx 112 Wedges

Installed the wiring and drivers...and tested. Sound great, don't seem to need a lot of EQ so far, though once I get them out of the garage and really crank them up I'll know more. I got them up to the 'I really don't want to be here' level without issue. I am definitely doing grills, just need to f...

Re: Active DI's- recommendations please.

Agree with Bruce on the passive stuff. I used to work with a production company that had all lower-end Whirlwind passive DI boxes. Once the Radial stuff hit and everyone was praising them, the company bought all new Radial stuff, mostly JDIs and some J48s. Us techs really couldn't tell much of a dif...

Re: Simplexx 112 Wedges

Is the baffle upside down? - (cutout closer to the shallow end?) Yep. Got it. Didn't notice till I had everything glued in and dried, of course. Had to doublecheck clearance, still plenty for the drivers. I really don't think think there's any downside. Maybe a little more top-heavy when setting on...

Re: Simplexx 112 Wedges

It seems you are making connectors on both ends. That is a great feature to have on stage monitors as it allows for easy daisy chaining with shorter cables and less stage clutter. I did the same on my WH8's and have never regretted it. Yes, absolutely. I did the same on the WH6s I built for my chur...

Simplexx 112 Wedges

(FYI, this won't be an extensive build thread...I'm not one to remember to stop and tape pics every step.) Building 4 Simplexx 112 wedges using the recommended Eminence Beta 12CX and ASD1001 HF drivers. Going to try without the side handles. I'd like to see how it is to pick up/carry with one strap ...

Just put 6 per channel and see what happens. If the amp doesn't go into a protect mode and you like what you hear, no worries. Titan's/Tuba's are a nominal 10 ohms anyway. (8 for anything loaded with a LAB)
Just keep in mind that if the amp goes into protect, it won't be during soundcheck...

Re: What's to chat about?

It is, but I see some other similarities in your cabs I'm curious about. What's your feeling on the performance difference between your 15" and 32" cabs? Big difference? Honestly, tough for me to say. I had the two slims for a while before I built the 4 32"s. The slims were okay, if I remember corr...

Re: What's to chat about?

So, according to my highly scientific $10 bathroom scale the 16" T39 built with CDX Douglas Fir and loaded with a Basslite S2012 is 55lb... should be 51ish empty cab and pushing 60 loaded with a 3012LF. Sounds about right. Mine were built from ACX, 20" wide, 3012LF, and came in at 63 lbs apiece. I'...

Re: driverack app and iphone question

In your case, since you seem to have your requirements and software nailed, consider dedicating a cheap Android phone to this task. +1 I generally do mixing and adjustments from an older Asus Android tablet, but I've always got several devices ready to go. I've got a couple used Android phones that...

Re: Jack 12 Lite: Best Highs Choice

I've built 4 Jack 112L.. Originally, two were melded, two were flat. I found that I liked the ultra-wide dispersion of the melded array enough that I converted the two flats into melded. Those who've gone the compression drive route tend to say the sound quality is better than the piezo arrays (I do...
