Re: 18" T30 Build
Got a pair of Behringer EP2500s and built new 12ga cables using genuine Neutrik connectors for everything. Night and day difference! On to the tops... Then back to building 2 more of these t30s.

Re: 18" T30 Build
PS: These things are awesome!! I need a new amp though. My Crown XLS 602 begins to clip at just over 30V, which is currently more than enough, my tops are unable to keep up. Guess I'd better start working on those Jack 10's and sourcing better amps! Oh yeah, I live on a 20acre farm. I fired everythi...

Re: 18" T30 Build
I can't get duratex shipped right now, It would be ruined in transit with the freezing temps. I was going to do one coat and then duratex later but then I was pleased with the result, with the exceptions of a few imperfections I found in the mouth of the horn once I painted them black. Also, I ran o...

Re: 18" T30 Build
Got the first coat of paint done this weekend. A good friend of mine just moved closer to where I live so we played catch up. Will be fixing some imperfections that showed up when I turned them black and adding another coat or two of paint. I'm actually pretty satisfied with the black latex finish, ...

Re: 18" T30 Build
Don't use DIY bedliner. I had to do an emergency refinish to get my cabs back on the road after a trailer wreck last summer so I got the Rustoleum stuff. It fades super fast to a most unplesant uneven grayish green, scratches easily, it's rough as sandpaper, and it peels like nobody's business. I s...

Re: 18" T30 Build
I have a heated 40x40 shop to work in w/ wood stove and 100,000 BTU oil fired furnace. I've also been leaving the furnace on keeping the shop at 50 degrees since the temperatures plunged below freezing.

Re: 18" T30 Build
So, I ordered duratex last wednesday... too cold to ship, hold till monday... monday get a call, too cold to ship, tuesday, too cold to ship. I cancelled the order. I agree they have the best product for this, but the weather forecast isn't going to get any better anytime soon. SO... I need options....

Re: 18" T30 Build
Do your speakers stick together when you stack them? That's the issue he has. Its been over 4 years since he build his speakers and while dry to the touch, they are like glue after the speakers have been stacked. Any ideas? I've read the tips, watched the videos, and searched the web. I can't find a...

Re: 18" T30 Build
Thanks guys. I've searched for alternatives based on the experience my friend has had with it but at the end of the day all roads lead back to duratex. I have shifted gears and will use duratex. Time to fire up the wood stove!!

Re: 18" T30 Build
Well, they have finally made it back to my shop. Tonight I start wood filling and sanding to prep for paint. I think I'm going to try the Restore 10x on them (on a scrap piece first of course) as see how it goes. If it works out well, I'll use it on my pa tops as well. I really dislike carpet on cab...

Re: 18" T30 Build
Actually in that video the hole for the Jack plate was open. Output increased when we plugged it with a block of wood. We also did not measure the voltage. It was simply to entertain ourselves while waiting for glue to dry. It really does show the efficiency of these speaker plans!

Re: 18" T30 Build
lol, it was actually an in-law suite (we think). I am impressed, we did a light test last night making sure not to allow the driver unload since the access holes have not been closed yet. I am going to be quite happy with these speakers. My neighbors, not so much. :wall: oh, and I'm really not a fan...
