Re: Second BFM Build: 2 x J12 Lites
Monacor list their price as £5.47 each (over $100 per cab!), so it would cost more for 24 (the minimum for two J10Ls) than it would to get 50 from Leland including duties! So the decision for tweets and crossovers is pretty much made (although Blue Aran are good for hardware here in the UK), but I n...

Re: Second BFM Build: 2 x J12 Lites
Great work Jools. You've earned your smugness! Those staple free sheaths look great. I'll definitely be referring back to this thread if I ever get round to building my Jacks. There doesn't seem to be any way of getting piezos here at a reasonable price but it'll probably be worth getting a box of 5...

Re: Second BFM Build: 2 x J12 Lites
Hi Jools, I've been enjoying your build thread and you've had some good ideas to ease the build. I'm considering some Jack 10 lites myself and was planning to buy a box of 50 piezos from Leland, perhaps building some WH6s to make use of the rest. Do you mind me asking how much you ended up paying fo...

Re: Hi From Oxford, UK
Hi Hugh, Yes, that's us. BashBand look great - more 'function friendly' than we are! I'm amazed that Chris's DR200s are still for sale. They look very tidy and I thought they'd have been snapped up. May be worth a look unless, like most people here, much of your motivation is actually to make someth...

Re: Hi From Oxford, UK
Hi Hugh, I've reposted this from my thread you posted in as you seem to have settled in this one now! I'm in Bampton, not too far away. I'm afraid I've not built any BFM PA cabs that you can hear yet (just an XF210 guitar cab which I'm still to use in anger), although I've heard Charles' Jack 12 lit...

I'm afraid I've not built any BFM PA cabs that you can hear yet (just an XF210 guitar cab which I'm still to use in anger), although I've heard Charles' Jack 12 lites and they sound great. Re: 2x 19" T30's
Hi Charles,
It's likely the problems are due to reflections and cancellation, and pure sine waves will be more susceptible to this than broader band signals. 1/4 wavelength from a boundary could give you as much as a 24dB drop I believe. Have you dragged it outside yet?

Re: Hi from valve amp enthusiast from Bristol [UK]
Hi Mr Foxen, and welcome. Wow, that's a lot of amps. If only I had the time, I'd love to play around with valve amps a bit more. I've recapped my VOX AC10 and recently built an Ampmaker PP-18 (cut down Baby Bluesbreaker / WEM Dominator circuit) as a backup. I've just finished an XF210 cab to go with...

Re: 2x 19" T30's
Can't wait to see and hear them. As the response of the T30 doesn't start dropping off till 30Hz, are you thinking of trying your 5 string bass through this in combination with your Jacks (low B = ~30Hz)? A bit over the top for a gig, but got to be worth a try just for fun!!!
See you tomorrow.

Re: XF210 build in the UK
The generally accepted way for breaking in guitar drivers is just to play them, loud and long. There are a couple of alternative shortcuts, but why would I use them when I've been given an excuse!

Re: XF210 build in the UK
More like gentle force with a small hammer! I aligned the corner with one edge and fixed it with the first screw. I then tapped the corner into shape with a small ball pein hammer, protecting the metal from dings with a bit of scrap ply. Once it was pretty much aligned with the second edge I fitted ...

Re: XF210 build in the UK
Just about finished. The Tuff Cab looks fine, though in hindsight I would brush on the first external coat and only roll the second coat with a textured roller. Metal corners finish it off nicely and are easy to bend to the shape of the angled sides. I was going to fit the handle using tee nuts for ...

Re: XF210 build in the UK
Just finished my first coat of Tuff Cab (UK product, similar to Duratex I believe). Brushed the inside, rolled the outside with a textured foam roller. Really easy to apply, and appears to cover up all my remaining minor flaws. Hope it looks (and feels) good once it dries.
