Re: My week at The Dorset Steam Fair with an LS9 and some EA

The only thing that looks like it needs an upgrade is the chair! Nice looking setup. As it was, I had to steal it from the band! :loler: The Lab Gruppens performed without fault or hesitation despite all the dust. They're a lovely amplifier which sound great but are mighty expensive! I'll stick to ...

Re: My week at The Dorset Steam Fair with an LS9 and some EA

Looks like the Soundcraft is coming out on top. I have looked at them a number of times and thought they looked a great mixer. When my XD dies (which I hope won't be for a long time as I find it a great sounding and easy to operate digi desk) it will probably be replaced with a an SI series as Sound...

My week at The Dorset Steam Fair with an LS9 and some EAW.

I worked the Micheal Oliver stage at the Great Dorset Steam Fair. It was very interesting and nice to do something different. A great bit of kit as it pretty much provides everything you're ever likely to need in 90% of situations. Flying faders, Automation, built in Graphic EQs, Multi FX units, Sav...

Re: BEHRINGER DDX3216 DIGITAL MIXER ...for cheap

Never used one but they're apparently ok to use and can be quite flexible. I haven't heard any horror stories so must be cool. If ADAT is important Soundcraft 328 and XD (like mine) have two outs so you could do 16 ch into a recorder if required. Pre amps are good and EQ is sweet. Great live, I love...

Re: Old Iron British Amps.....?

+1 to the above.. I've never had one fail or do anything show killingly silly. I do have one that I occasionally have to turn on twice as it goes into protect when first fired up but my tech can't find anything wrong with it. It's no bother and has been that way for the 8 or so years I've used it. T...

I have some of these and whilst they are horribly heavy they are reliable and solid performers. Nice one.

Re: Old Iron British Amps.....?

I've enjoyed many years of trouble-free service from various PPX series amps. Our old 450 was hammered to within an inch of it's life everynight and never once complained. I put a 900 into a venue as a stop-gap measure to drive a little sub about 8 years ago.. It's still there! Great amps inspite of...

Re: So I bit the bullet and have gone digital! Soundcraft 32

http://i778.photobucket.com/albums/yy70/VTypeV4/RigCraft2_zps99d7b7db.jpg A not great pic of my view when working at the Rigger. You can see the XD aloft the GL and my rack with most of the goodies turned off as it's all in the desk. I still need my Dbx 2231 and Sony EQs which can be seen in the to...

Re: So I bit the bullet and have gone digital! Soundcraft 32

Have absolutely no need for one of these, but still jealous!  I'm with escape here, but maybe one day I can have one. I wanted to be a sound engineer, but when I was at college doing A levels (1990-ish) there were very few courses doing sound at Uni level (the only one I knew of ...

Re: So I bit the bullet and have gone digital! Soundcraft 32

Thought I'd add a quick update.. I'm still very happy which is a good start! Overview: Having done around 30 shows on the desk since it's purchase I thought i'd let everyone know how i'd been getting on with it. It's worked faultlessly and without drama which has pretty much been as I'd hoped, no cr...

Re: So I bit the bullet and have gone digital! Soundcraft 32

Well acoustic night was a breeze. The flexible compression helped to smooth out both occasional poor mic technique and less than ideal guitar pre-amps whilst the internal effects put a lovely space around everything. The more I use the desk, the happier I am with what it does. I'm finding I can get ...
