Re: How Loud?

The OSHA noise level standards are for constant levels or time weighted averages. I just finished helping our safety department with sound level testing in our shop. We fitted multiple employees with time/level monitors and I was very surprised at the results. People working 8 to 10 hour shifts near...

Merry Christmas to Everyone

Well the cycle of family & friends parties starts in about an hour and will last through Christmas.
I wanted to take a minute to wish everyone a safe and merry Christmas.
Enjoy the holidays.

Re: Driver id help

I was speaking of the 210 cabinets. I have no idea if the drivers had other applications.

Re: Driver id help

These are from the old style 210SVT cabinet that was designed to be used over the single 15SVT.
It was used for mid extension and is nothing like the small stand alone 210 they currently have.
There were not very many of these made but a lot of people want them now.

Re: Otops restarted

Looks like I am adding them then. I will just drill a 5/8" hole in each end at the border of the flare and secure it with some methacrylic. This adhesive will tear glass fiber before failing.

Re: Otops restarted

I wasn't sure if I needed it for the CD horn. I thought it may have only been structural. If that is the case I won't need it as these horns are very strong. If I do need it to prevent beaming then I have 5/8 glass rod that I can easily add with methacrylic adhesive before installing them in the cab...

Re: Otops restarted

All four are finished and are ready to be mounted.

There will be a delay of at least a week before anything else gets done.
I am leaving Monday night for FT Sill Oklahoma. My son is graduating from basic and we will get to see him off and on during next week. Wouldn't miss this for the world!

Re: Otops restarted

Correction to the last pictures. The one marked "permanent mold" is actually the permanent pattern to make the permanent mold from.

The story continues below:

Well, ask and you shall receive.

Re: Otops restarted

I have finished the glass cd horns. I will try to get some pictures up this evening. They came out really good. I do have one problem though. I didn't compensate for the Duratex paint thickness. They fit the naked cab perfectly at dead on 14". This means I will need to route in a small amount o...

Re: New BFM Folded Horn?

My son used to have a store bought unit like this. His was a bit larger. It made a considerable difference in the volume and added a lot of lower freq. On his the phone laid on top and used an area about 12" long and 3 or 4 inches high as the mouth of the horn facing forward on the front. I hav...

Re: Otops restarted

Well I haven't posted for awhile. I decided to move forward with making fiberglass horns. I am not going to RTM them (molded smooth on both sides in a closed mold) because of time constraints. I am however making a mold for open molding them. These will be smooth on the interior and have a rough gla...

Re: voltage limit chart

Can you screen shot the PDF and post it as an image file?
May not be updatable but it would post the current information up to the age of the chart you have.
Someone may be able to use this with any new information to create a master chart.

voltage limit chart

Just a late night random thought. This may already exist somewhere. I was thinking that a comprehensive chart of all the designs with voltage limit listings for the different recommended drivers would be a great tool. It could be made a sticky for quick access and be updated as new applicable driver...
