Yeah, rewound alternators suck. The police 200A unit was built from the ground up as a high-output alternator, though. Desoldering 20 pins and getting them all to let loose with out delaminating the traces didn't seem worth the time or risk of damage.

On the display board end, why didnt you just desolder the contact then solder the ribbon through the vacant holes?

I want to hear how getting it installed with just the one access panel works. Its fatter around than the MCM. If you can get it in alright then Ill probably do what you did with just the one, larger, access.
