I guess I'll go back to using the 300W bash. Don't want to do that again.

Re: Dubwoofer's Tuba HT build
I had my voltmeter connected as I demoed the Tuba to a friend. If I had to guess, last night I was probably pushing about 35 volts

Re: Dubwoofer's Tuba HT build
I'll watch my voltage next time I demo it. Obviously I would never use the Tuba at those levels normally and the 300W amp produces more than enough power for the room.

Re: Dubwoofer's Tuba HT build
Today I installed some binding posts in the access panel so that I have the option of connecting to the woofer directly (of course disconnecting the plate amp). I pulled the LT.500 from my elemental designs A5-350 and hooked it up to the tuba and proceeded to test it on war of the worlds. I'm not qu...

Re: Dubwoofer's Tuba HT build
My blu ray of War of the Worlds came last week and i had a chance to see what the tuba could do (with a 300w amp). It just about overpowers the main speakers and saturates the room with bone-shaking bass. The subwoofer can be heard or felt in every room of the house. Someday I'll get a more powerful...

Re: Dubwoofer's Tuba HT build
Looks very nice, congrats. Curious though - that's the first time I've seen a plate amp mounted into the chamber cover - is there any concern that the backwave could stress the plate amp? I guess it could be boxed in if that was truly an issue, but then it would reduce the volume of the chamber? I ...

Re: Dubwoofer's Tuba HT build
OK so a few comparisons with my Elemental Designs A5-350: At listening position the Tuba (with the 300W amp) at 20Hz has about the same max output as the ED with its 500W amp. The ED has a little stronger bass below that and will reach about 16Hz. Above 25Hz the Tuba is a bit more powerful. Conclusi...

Re: Dubwoofer's Tuba HT build
Yep, everything on the amp was sealed with GOBS of goo and and I can't find any leaks using the stethoscope tube method. That's good Dub but be sure to carefully check the rca jacks and highlevel speaker inputs, etc. as they are usually leaky. That chamber has to be 100%.

Re: Dubwoofer's Tuba HT build
After moving it into the home theater... It's good I'm a bachelor.
So far no problems at all with the amp mounted on the access cover.
I'll need to do something about the rattling movie posters and lights

Re: Dubwoofer's Tuba HT build
Uhhh...
Alrighty... It engulfed my garage in a 30Hz tone that shook the doors, walls and lights all while sitting on the saw horses in the center of the floor. That's just ridiculous.
