Re: Multiple Tlahs using Apex jr tweet/Aurasound NS525-255-8
Finally got the time to wire everything. Set the minidsp crossover to 5500/6000hz and ran the test speaker active. Sounds great. My father has already decided he wants a pair. Anyway I'll do some REW testing tomorrow to see what the signal response looks like and apply EQ to see how flat I can get it

Re: Multiple Tlahs using Apex jr tweet/Aurasound NS525-255-8
I just built my test TLAH last night. Got to the shop at 9pm, got home at 11pm. Seems like a cnc router speeds the process along. All the wood components of speaker box are finished. I'm going to add the speakers in and then wire it up.I'll test it as an active speaker to see how it does this weeken...

Re: Multiple Tlahs using Apex jr tweet/Aurasound NS525-255-8
Of course I managed to leave my tlah plans at home and they are not on my attached storage here. Anyway I'm going to route out a face today and build a single tlah for testing when I drag it back home. I've got cherry 1/2" ply on order to make the real ones out of but it won't be here for a few...

Formulas to figure out how many drivers to use was taken from the pdf paper of "Design guidelines for Practical Near Field Line Arrays". Specifically section "Overall Array Sound Pressure Level and Impedance" What we are interested in: Thus, the acoustical improvement (efficiency...

Re: Multiple Tlahs using Apex jr tweet/Aurasound NS525-255-8
Long time without an update. Started a new demanding job last December. Anyway i had a bit of time to layout the TLAH speaker using cardboard and then drew it up in cad. Cnc machined in about 5 min a test front out of old plywood and everything fit up great. I'll need to adjust the center to center ...

Re: TLAH and curved SLA
One more thing I'm concerned about is a topic from a thread I read about the sensitivity of the two lines matching (this thread... http://billfitzmaurice.info/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=18868&hilit=apex+jr) I was excited to find that thread but it ended without updates as the project went o...

Re: Raspberry Pi's
I messed with one for a while, just too underpowered for playback of HD video. Tried it with XBMC. I'm going to use it now as a picture frame (big low power lcd tv) that will enable me to display pictures and video. As far as theater pcs, I'm just gonna stick with Nvidia ion lower power pcs. Not sur...

I'm bringing shooting ear plugs with me. I value my hearingbassmonster wrote:I've always wanted to go to an Excision show, but I figure I'll just have to get a seat near the subwoofers and lose a couple of kHz of hearing capacity in one day.

Re: Don't let this happen to you
My mom and sister are both much better shots with the Ruger .22 pistol than me. They get some really good, tight groups on the target. They are scared of the 6" barreled S&W .357 because of the kickback, Magnum rounds through this gun give muzzle flash about one foot in diameter and make t...

But we also don't see the need for private citizens to own military weaponry. ??? Not sure what you mean by military weaponry. Semi-auto? Assault rifles? Bazookas? There has been this hue and cry over banning assault rifles....an assault rifle is simply a semi-auto that is dressed up to look like m...

Crap guess the downturn in the economy is more long-term than we thought. Not a good sign when the terminators coming back in time are made out of a flatscreen and a dyson vacuum.AntonZ wrote:

My mom came over to the U.S. as a teenager and stayed with the extended family in Gary, IN attended college at IU and became a US citizen. Anyway we have stay...

Re: Don't let this happen to you
Gun control isn't the issue. People control is, as in keeping guns out of the hands of those who shouldn't have them. That doesn't mean screwballs won't still kill people, but I've never heard of anyone armed with a crossbow massacring even six people, let alone dozens. Criminals are gonna always f...

Re: Don't let this happen to you
As to the story, the guy is crazy. Heck he didn't even stay after the shooting. You will always have a small percentage of problems like this, but I'd rather have the freedom to carry a weapon than have to hope a police officer shows up to protect me. Legally, they are not required to save or even p...
