Re: Table Tuba Build

The only potential problems with using them as stands is that it might put your tweeters too high above ear level, and it restricts your options for placement. If you have a utility room or storage closet on the other side of those walls, you could hide the TT in there and fire it through a wall ven...

Re: THT low profile build.

The RSS driver has a more advanced motor design with shorting rings and all that. In theory that should give lower harmonic distortion, which might matter if you find yourself driving the horn below its cutoff. The harmonics would still be in the horn gain band, so it's good to have a driver that mi...

Hrm, yeah definitely not cheap... For some reason the search only came up for me using a real computer, not from the ebay phone app.

Spotted: Eminence HL-10A

Saw these on ebay: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=150506542081 Looks like it's the "A" model with 8 ohms and 32 Hz fs. Not sure what designs they'd be suitable for, but at first glance maybe the TT? I know the 4 ohm "C" model used to be a recommended driver desp...

Re: Shawn's Table Tuba Build - Dual Loaded 8" Infinity 860W

It looks like an induction motor from your schematic, and based on the age and the hum and movement you describe, I would bet that it's a blown capacitor (item 15 on your drawing). That should be a fairly inexpensive part to try replacing - just make sure to match the capacitance and voltage specs o...

Re: How Often Do You Check CraigsList?

If you have an Android phone, the "CraigsNotifica" app is really handy. Not sure if there's an iPhone equivalent... You can enter a bunch of search terms and it will scrape CL all day long for the searches you've entered, and then give you a notification on your phone when a posting matche...

Loved the intro with Veracocha's Carte Blanche... different mix but nonetheless that took me right back in time (although this time there was more bass) :)

Re: speakerplans' 18" scoop bins

Well, I came away impressed... The bass hit hard and went deep -- shaking the chest and pant legs. I listened to some test tones afterward to try and gauge what I was hearing, and I'd say the output was very solid to about ~35 hz. Couldn't tell you the spl though. The ceiling tiles were flexing and ...
