Re: Omni 15 midrange driver farting

Yep, the bass control should have no effect on the signal to the midrange driver, unless boosting the bass causes clipping. With on board EQ that clipping could occur in the on board pre-amp, in the amp pre-amp, in the amp power amp or in all three. The Alpha 6CBMR did not exist when the original ve...

Re: Simplex Back Panel - Why is it not under top?

In order to build the cab with internal bracing the back must overlap the top, bottom and side edges. There is no strength issue, the wood will fracture before the glued joints will. Someone will probably bring this up eventually, so I'll say it now: 'Traditional' speaker cabinet construction is not...

Re: Otop 8 future build

Make cables with 1/4" plugs on one end and Speakon on the other for when you use an amp with only 1/4" outputs.

I searched online and found a descriptive comment from a person who says they wired there speakers
Don't search on line, read your plans. :horse:
You should not be using 1/4" jacks with PA. Use Speakon only.

Re: Table Tuba 11 inch panels, humming sounds at 20 hz

At or near the bottom end of these horns' performance, the driver in the enclosure itself has some output as a direct radiator, *I believe*. I think I remember this coming from the horse, himself. If this is so, a larger driver would most likely have a bit more output at the bottom end, below the h...

Re: Closed Back XF 212

The convertible back is airtight, if you gasket it well. No matter, it's not a bass cab, it's not a ported cab, so a slight leak won't affect anything.

Re: Table Tuba 11 inch panels, humming sounds at 20 hz

Extension is based on horn length, but sensitivity is based on mouth area. A 36" THT is more sensitive at 20Hz than a 24" THT. It's not a huge difference, to get 3dB you'd need to double the mouth area with a 48" width. That would result in throat area too large for one driver.

20Hz response is there, but not in an 11" width.

Re: Table Tuba 11 inch panels, humming sounds at 20 hz

Once again, but with feeling... You're not hearing 20Hz. You're hearing harmonics of 20Hz, probably sourced in the electronics The only way to know what's in the signal is by doing an RTA. That said, I can tell that there's major midrange content, because I can hear it on my laptop speakers, which o...
