Re: Poll: e-bass amp power

Well, I used to use a 1600w setup with an 810. I always felt it didn't quite give the amount of power you'd expect from such a large rig. Then I got an O10, and dropped the 810. Obviously volume/low-end isn't comparable, but it cut through well enough and was waaaay more articulate. Then I got a tub...

Re: Hello! Looking to replace a 1200W 810 Bass Rig with BF Setup

Les is indisposed right now because his dad just passed away within the last couple of weeks. Damn. :( I'm sorry to hear that. Good to see you around again. Take care of that Omni 10. Don't go blowing it up with your new tube amp! :) Sure thing, man. I still love 'er. The rig sounds amazing... and ...

Re: Hello! Looking to replace a 1200W 810 Bass Rig with BF Setup

Change of plans! I ended up getting a vintage tube head. It sounds wwaaaaay louder than my larger rig ever felt even though it's about 1/10th of the wattage. I still haven't pushed it past volume 3 in fear that I'll blow the speakers in my O10. Since I got this new head, I'm considering changing my ...

That's what I figured, but I meant volume-wise.

Re: Hello! Looking to replace a 1200W 810 Bass Rig with BF Setup

I've decided to go with a DR-250 with the T39... But I'm wondering what size T39 best suits a single DR250. I figure that'd be the place to start. :)

Does anyone know what size that would be?

Well, I actually grew up in Lafayette! I'd been living in Los Angeles with my guitarist, but we moved back to Baton Rouge a couple of days ago! I guess I need to update my account info! :)

Re: Hello! Looking to replace a 1200W 810 Bass Rig with BF Setup

The O10 is comparably much louder than the O15 You have that reversed. No, I meant that for their sizes, the O10 is much louder than the O15... At least that's what I've been hearing. Anyway! Thanks Mikey, that's more of the type of response that I'm looking for... But I'd like to reiterate that th...

Re: Hello! Looking to replace a 1200W 810 Bass Rig with BF Setup

Would a single O15 be comparable to all of this? Would 2? One O15 will seriously rattle your balls.....2 O15's and you're sterile! 1. I'm okay with having my balls rattled. That was the aim of my current rig. 2. I'm okay with being sterile. (Just don't tell my girl. :noob: ) I get it. The...

This gets you a full bottom, a lot of noise, and full range sound in a single box.

Re: Hello! Looking to replace a 1200W 810 Bass Rig with BF Setup

Sounds like you've already outgrown the O10 before it has even arrived on your doorstep! :) I completely understand the excitement. I've got it, too! :noob: Not so fast! Either way, I def plan on keeping the O10 for smaller gigs (or when I have PA support) or practice situations. The first thing I ...

Re: Hello! Looking to replace a 1200W 810 Bass Rig with BF Setup

You are much better off with two T39 than a 2x12. 30" is the upper end of the optimal range for 1x12. Wider is better, up to a point, and 30" is that point. The typical 8x10 does not have a lot of bottom end. A single T39/3012 produces about +10dB more SPL at 40 Hz. You can pair the T39 w...

Re: Hello! Looking to replace a 1200W 810 Bass Rig with BF Setup

It's just about how much power it'll take. Actually, it's about how much noise it'll make. And it doesn't take a lot of power to make a whole lotta noise with these cabs! Right! I didn't mean I'd have to use 1600W through the BFM system (which wouldn't make much sense at all if I'm just using 2 cab...

Re: Hello! Looking to replace a 1200W 810 Bass Rig with BF Setup

If you do the T39, make it as wide as you like, the wider the better up to 30". Use a single 12" 3012LF. Wheels on the bottom/side are not a problem, but locating a handle on top/side will be tricky. Must be air tight at all times. You need a crossover, and at least 2 separate amp channel...
