Re: New THT Build
Nice driver you got there. Looks like the surround protrudes quite a bit past the front gasket. You should double check to make sure that the surround will not hit any of the braces (remember at excursion it will be beyond where it is now). You may want to consider adding a spacer or notching the br...

Re: How hot does your plate amp run?
Ok the amp now shuts off after some time. The only thing I changed was to plug it into a different power outlet (I moved it to the same one that the receiver is plugged in to -it was previously plugged in to one on an adjacent wall since I didn't have enough outlets available). The amp is still runn...

Re: How hot does your plate amp run?
I cut out the back of my TV stand and mounted it to the back of it (should be equivalent airflow to mounting it in a subwoofer box). The amp is hot even at idle (I found this out because it didn't go to sleep mode after I turned off the receiver and left for an hour - the light was still green and t...

How hot does your plate amp run?
Does your plate amp run hot? The entire plate on my Yung SD500 amp is pretty hot (almost hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold your hand on it). I am not even pushing it hard - this is just using it at a low listening volume. Just wondering if this is normal operation or is there something wrong. I...

Re: Completely lost on HT amps with no, or low high pass.
You might want to look at the Yung 500 watt plate amps. They are on sale at Parts Express now. I just picked one up - haven't used it yet though.

Re: Yung plate amps?
I have another HL10c I will be using for the TT. The plate amp is rated for 500w @ 4ohms but the TT will present an 8ohm impedance. I estimate the amp will have closer to 300w output with that load so I don't think it will be grossly overpowered. Sounds like the non boosted version will be better - ...

Re: Yung plate amps?
That's a lot of great information. I was looking at the SD500 since that's the one on sale at PE right now. From the charts that sine143 provided, it looks like the 500 has a boost at 25Hz and the 200 has the boost at about 35Hz. Do you guys have any thoughts on using the boosted SD500 vs non booste...

Re: Yung plate amps?
Anyone used these yet? I see they are on sale at PE for a reasonable price. Was looking to pick up one of the 500w models to power a TT.
Trying to decide whether or not to get the one with the 6db boost.

Re: Dual Loaded Table Tuba by a Teenager
I wouldn't worry about thieves stealing it. They usually want something they can resell easily or something to use themselves. Neither of which that monster of a box is. They will steal your head unit or amp(s) before that box goes anywhere. If you really want to hide it, you can hide that box in pl...

Re: Dual Loaded Table Tuba by a Teenager
If you do all of the cutting on the weekend, you should be able to install 1 panel a day. They only take 15 minutes to install and clamp. I built mine a little at a time and I think its better to do it this way to give the rest of the panels time to dry.

Re: Birch vs MDF
I used 5-ply 1/2" Arauco from Lowes for $26 a sheet on my Table Tuba. It seemed to be a good compromise between cost and quality. I like working with it much better than MDF. That dust from MDF is awful.

Re: Table Tuba build!!
Ohh ok...I must have missed that. I was thinking to myself that the MDF is going to soak up the stain like a sponge haha. You will enjoy the Table Tuba once you get it finished, sounds good and very powerful. I made a few videos of mine, and posted one yesterday in the "Reviews" section of...
