setting power amps on subwoofers?

Just finished a tuba 24 build, loving it for EDM and synth stuff with the low bass. Looking at a titan 39 next for regular bass drum / upright bass / sousaphone shows. I roll in with an assortment of XLRs but do not have (nor want) much in the way of speaker cables. Ideally id love to be able to set...

why do the access panels on a tuba24 need to be air tight?

I would think that having venting behind the speaker would make it more efficient and not impact the sound coming out the horn. In my (admittedly unscientific) tests I could not hear a difference with the covers on or off.
My apologies if this has been covered before...

Re: ultralight plywood?

The other thought that occurred to me is using 1/4 for internal baffles, and instead of gluing them on the end grain I could route in 1/4 " deep channels for everything. It seems with that style of construction having a thin outer layer would not be as much of a liability? THe baffle - to baffl...

ultralight plywood?

Im trying to figure out how to do a really light weight titan39.

What do you all think about ultra light plywood? https://ultralightply.com/ ? Its only costs 10% more then baltic birch in my neck of the woods.

finish on interior baffles?

I know a local acoustic uke and guitar builder, high end stuff, that shellacs the inside of the body cavities because he said it makes it harder and more sound echos out. I can personally attest to the sound difference a guitar with harder rosewood sounds then a mahogany one. louder, more bass. With...

SLA pro vs Omni 8 PA tops for smaller gigs that need optimal horizontal dispersion

I have a regular gig that will have 10-40 people in the audience some times out in a field and sometimes in a dining hall. We are doing acoustic music, background mostly during dinner but often folks start dancing later in the evening and we turn up. My existing powered mains (QSC k10.1) tend to sou...

Re: sound town plate amps?

I am adding a subwoofer to an existing PA that is centered around 2 QSC k10.1 powered mains so I have more bottom end for gigs that have upright bass or tuba. Indoor bar sized venues or outdoor 100ish people, mostly acoustic music.

Re: Driver choices for a Tuba 24.

Newbie here, I am not sure if I should tag on this thread or start a new one. I am sourcing materials for a Tuba24 build this winter. For me the weight savings of neodymium speakers have a lot of appeal, especially if I can get by with a smaller amplifier. However I am having trouble finding any tha...
