so it has been a while since i Last posted something. I ran into a guy out here in the freezing cold who had a couple of jbl array stacks. After quizzing a little he claimed he paid 6 for each one of his speakers. I guess he thought I was competition so he threw these numbers out to discourage me.I wonder how well the dr300 compares to the jbl.

Which one? Not that it matters, the most expensive is the VRX932, it won't even beat the DR200, and they run $2k each.

Yeah I kinda felt sorry for the guy. I have decided to hang my DRs but I wanted to find out if I have to hang the T48 as well

You're much better off if you don't.
If you raise the subs off the ground you'll lose the gain you get from half-space loading. That means you'll drop the output from the subs by 6db. To get back those 6db you'll have to double the amount of cabs and double the amount of power to power the stack.
You're subs to tops size ratio should be rougly 2:1, but if you raise the subs off the ground that number becomes 4:1. So for each DR300 you'll need e.g. four T48's. You can easily see where this is going....

BTW, the biggest sound-company around here has 8 VRX932s.. I shake my head every time I hear them knowing what they cost and having the response-chart in mind.... It surprises me that anybody with any knowledge about acoustics would by those...

Never hang subs. Well, not never, it's OK to hang them if you have a 30 foot high array of them.

WOW! You really need more than twice the JBL's to out class the 300's.
My pair of DR250's that I used last night in a ballroom out classed a pair of Community 920 in sound and all I heard was "the highs sound amaizing" YESSSS!!!
I'm on my way to finish the rest of the 4 DR's three per side, maybe I could compete with the best linearray's out there (I know I will) or shut up those that have Mayers, EAW and D.A.S. etc..

I'm just playing around.
I hope I could get to shake your hand Bill. And give you a proper thank you for you knoledge and awesome design.

You need two VRX932 to match a DR
200. Forget about the DR300, that's in the Vertec class.
