DCX2496 (Consumer to Pro line level)

I am sure a few pro audio guys are running Behringer DCX2496 units?
I am currently running one in my home theater.
As there is a line level input difference between consumer and pro gear,I can barely get the input LED's to register -20. This going from my HT receiver, Panasonic XR55 LFE out into the DCX2496 using a monoprice RCA (unbalanced) out to XLR cable.
The DCX2496 has both input and output gain. When I adjust the input gain I see no change on the input LED's. However the sub does get louder when I increase either the input or output gain.
I am just wondering if this is ideal as I can imagine the signal to noise is pretty low, boosting a low consumer signal.
For reference when I have the input/output gain set to 0db and feed it into my Behringer EP2500 app running in stereo (650x2), With the gain on the amp turned up all the way it seems to not have enough signal as it's not that loud.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
