Crown xti 2000 for 4x T48 3015lf

Hi I am interested to know if the Crown Xti 2000 would be a suitable power amp to drive 4x T48 subs loaded with single 3015lf drivers.
Some on the board have suggested that the older style amps are better for sub duty rather than these cheaper digital crowns.
Have also heard it said that it is better to use an amp with more power than required when running subs. The "head room" in the amp is said to deliver a fuller, punchier sound.
I have been using a Alto Mistral 2500 Power Amp (450wrms @ 8 Ohm Stereo) for the subs and even though its rated power output is less than the driver rating it seems OK and have never needed to run amp on maximum to get good SPL's.
I currently have a xti1000 runing 2x 3-DR250 a side and have no complaints. Am considering the xti 2000 to utilise the DSP for Xover settings and delay.
thanks Craig
