Eight DR 200's w/scaffold

#1 Post by DJ Scotty G »

Hello, Here are my DR 200's out for the first time this year with my new scaffold. This was a school dance with about 1000 kids. The sheriff was getting calls from home owners about 1 1/2 miles away about loud music. :D I love my DR200 these little boxes rock. Here are some pics:

Are the bottom two DR's built as a single cabinet?

Yes they are. I built them as single cabs and then wrapped them in 1/4 ply to make them one cabinet. They are a little heavy being made from 1/2" BB and then wrapped with the 1/4".

That is my speaker distro boxes. I run a 4-wire cable out to the DR200's and they hook into that box. It has speakons in it to get to the DR like this:

Each side:

2 wires from QSC RMX 2450 to (2) DR's.

2 wires from QSC RMX 1850 to (2) DR's.

each side of the amp has a 4 ohm load, because I run stereo. Plus this way I have only one speaker cable going to each stack, less wire and looks better than tons of different cables going to the speakers. I should post some pics of the cables, because others may want to do the same.

Nice setup, that does seem like a lot of juice for the 8" drivers in the DR200's. And....when are you going to upgrade to BFM subs?

Why dont you just have a 4 core cable that you split into pairs with two speakons on each end? it would save you a few of the speakon cables and look even neater...
-1 for thought terminating cliches.

Built and/or own:
8 x T48 24" 3015LF
6 x DR280
2 x DR250 old style beta10
2 x T36s 20" delta15L
1 x TAT
1 x dual Lab12 30" T60

In Progress:
2 x DR280

I use the two-pair wiring in my Speakon cables. Lows get #1, Highs get #2 pair. A single cable daisy chains from box to box. I do not have the High boxes switchable, so I built a few #1 to #2 cross-wire adapters when needed.
My biggest worry is that when I'm dead and gone, my wife will sell my toys for what I said I paid for them.

I have not had any issues with my 8's with the QSC amps. I have a DBX Drive Rack and I have limits set for the Dr's and my subs.

I have one 30" wide Titan 48 built and I have not had time to build the other three yet, I just moved and I have lots of other projects now w/the new house. I will use 4 30" Titan 48 3015LF cabs with my DJ rig.
