tw12

My local audio wholesaler has pyramid tw12, for .75 each. From what I've read all piezo's are roughly the same. Any reason not to use these?

Link? Pyramid as a brand name is, in general, crap.

I understand pyramid as a brand is crap. However there have been many posts that say all piezo's are the same. Goldwood isn't a stellar brand either.

That's why I ask.

All piezo's are not the same, not roughly the same either. One of the members here has done a comparison between piezo's bought in the UK at WLE and Farnell. They looked pretty similar, Farnell units were head and shoulders above the WLE model. I have ordered both cheap and somewhat more expensive piezo's in same size from one source. Distinct difference both in output level and general product quality.

Better get them from a known good source, if you can. Or find out for us if you've just found another good source :)

There's good crap, and there's bad crap. The Goldwoods are good crap, for less than two bucks you're not going to get anything better, and all it takes is a bit of glue to bring them up to snuff. OTOH, the piezos sold under the Pyle name are bad crap. Visually those Pyramids appear to be the same as the Goldwoods, and probably are OK.

will do. They 'claim' 94db 3.5khz.. I have spectralab/art preamp/reference mic, so I can do some tests.

Don't expect hi-fi response. The Goldwoods measure closer to 92dB.

yea, I figured that was all part of the 'where do you mark the lower freq' marketing thing.

94db@3.5hkz, 92db@2.5k, 90db@2k, etc..... I picked up 9 pair for 13 bucks, so if nothing else, they are good material to practice making arrays!!!!

No, I don't want to pair .75 crap with $$$ eminence, that's self defeating. Will let you know what I come up with.
