Another Mobile DJ

#1 Post by DJ Mark »

HI Everyone!!! :D

My name is Mark I am 19 and a mobile DJ from Downers Grove, IL and a student at Illinois state University...

I got hooked to Bill fitz designs when I had a Tuba 24 built for me...

I plan on building Omni 15's and many tuba 24;s and possibly others.

Thank you for everyone's advice in advance :P and glad to be here.

From one DJ to another, Welcome.

My love of BF speakers started with a pair of Tuba 30's and went from there...

That was followed by some DR250's...

and now I'm building some OmniTop 15's using the woofers from my old JBL's

and I'm also finishing up an Auto Tuba for the wifes FJ Cruiser.
Built so far:
AutoTuba. TAT, T18, T30, T39, SLA, SLA Pro, DR200, Omni 12TB, Omni 12 Sub, Omni 10.5,

Thanks for the welcome...I was thinking about DR's too but they sound difficult to build....

I heard the autotuba is pretty mean...did you hear about the guy that uses them in six pack configuration for live sound?

I actually changed my mind and might be building some omni top 15's this winter break...

That is an awesome setup

BUMP-

I did a search for the info regarding the six pack of autotuba's... I think it was purged from the files.

Anyone recall who, how, etc and if the setup is still running, did it prove itself to be useful or was it a stunt?

bgavin did the actual measurements, the six-pack of HL10C-loaded ATs belonged to forum member "davygrvy" and, according to bgavin, they were painfully loud.

They were used for live bands over a week-end with great success, as I recall.

Bruce, what type of tone did you use for the SPL chart?

The chart is a real time swept sine.

The RTA is calibrated at 100 Hz using two Radio Shack SPL meters: one analog, the other digital. Both agree.
The steady state 100 Hz tone is adjusted to 2.83v at the speaker terminals with a Fluke DVM.

Even though the rig should remain calibrated for the duration, I recalibrate for every new box under test.
During the 2007 test season, I found so damn many bugs in TrueRTA that I had to calibrate constantly for peace of mind.
I still had data bugs, and to this day cannot use 2007 data with the current version of TRTA. It doesn't jive.

The relative image is correct.
