Hello there.

I'm looking at driver available in Australia, and I think I have found some good candidates.

I'm wondering though whether the pure subwoofer driver or a midwoofer would be best suited for this cab? It's for PA use, so I'm wondering which will likely sound better in the 100-800hz range? Obviously the sub will deliver best below 100hz.

Specs for both are within suggested ranges from the plans:

Either will work, the 800 will have more output in the lows with sufficient power, the 700 is stronger in the midbass.

Actually yes, they are probably a bit too power hungry.

Maybe the choice then is between these two:

It looks like the rosso would have much more low end output, but would the pa380s likely sound nicer?

They'll be playing mostly electronic music with a lot of bass, but also pristine and detailed production.

There's no such thing as power hungry, other than with very low sensitivity drivers, which wouldn't be within spec range anyway. You just won't get what a high Pe long xMax driver is capable of if you don't have enough power, which often means you're spending more than you have to. Where driver comparisons are concerned xMax shows how much they'll handle below 100 Hz, the SPL charts show sensitivity above 100 Hz. The 15W 400 beats the Dayton on both counts.
