finish on interior baffles?

I know a local acoustic uke and guitar builder, high end stuff, that shellacs the inside of the body cavities because he said it makes it harder and more sound echos out. I can personally attest to the sound difference a guitar with harder rosewood sounds then a mahogany one. louder, more bass.
With that in mind, I am wondering if there would be an improvement if one was to put a coat of shellac on the baffles in a loaded horn subwoofer? It seems like this would make the surfaces harder, which would make them more reflective, which would increase the efficiency of the cab.
