Anyone have personal experience with the plate amps from "Sound Town"? I dont know anything about the company, but I like the weight and simplicity and cost point if it works decent

I assume there is not a problem using plate amps with the folded horn subs as long as they are not adding any penetrations or air leaks to the unit? like have it in some sort of raised panel on the back?

Also is there some sort of hardware limiter I can get so i can get a bigger amp and not have it run as hard but also not make it so it can go higher than the speaker should take?

Tell us what you plan to use the amp for......DJ? Home Theater? Live bands? Then we can dive into the amp and speaker choice, assuming you are picking the correct cabinet for the job.

But, if you are looking at getting a standalone limiter, then you might as well just put an amp in the same rack and forget the plate amp.

I am adding a subwoofer to an existing PA that is centered around 2 QSC k10.1 powered mains so I have more bottom end for gigs that have upright bass or tuba. Indoor bar sized venues or outdoor 100ish people, mostly acoustic music.

You should consider the T39 instead. More sensitivity and easier to tote around. Even a skinny T39 will outperform the T24. While it's 15 inches taller, it is 5 inches less deep. It can be built with a 10, but with a 12, it gets even better.

To use it with the tops, you'll need a crossover and a limiter, so you'd be best getting a driverack as opposed to a standalone limiter. Add a lightweight amp like a bridged Crown XLS 1002 and it will do what you need for that setup. A 3012LF in a 16 inch wide cab would work....but, build it wider if you have the pack space - free bang for the buck with a bigger cab.

The kickback casters on the T39 make it way easier to transport than the T24. The T24 is too short to kickback and roll. I put casters on the bottom of mine, but that doesn't help a bit when loading. It's too short to lean against a bumper or tailgate and slide in. You have to lift it.

Anyway - some things for you to consider....
